This man. Does he have the ability of smell? _ I've never seen an elites nose, though I've heard one say something along the lines of 'The Brutes, I can smell them.' or 'I can smell them from here, those bastards!' Opinions?
Elites are reptilian in nature which means if they have noses they will be on top of the snout and therefore concealed by the armor. Either that or they smell with their tongue.......if they have one.....
They can smell. If you remember between the levels Sacred Icon and Oracle in Halo 2, "Half Jaw" sniffed and said he remembered the stench of the flood. Of course, "how" isn't known, atleast not by me.
Yealh, like said before, Elite's probably smell with their mouth/tounge/tentacle-jaws. Mabey their nose is actually down their throat... kind of wierd but possible. Here is an article on how snakes smell. If that would help at all.
Taste is nothing without the sense of smell. If we didn't have noses, everything would taste the same.

There is a trick that you can clip a camera through the elites armor and see it's bare skin on it's head but Bungie probably didn't bother to give them noses. But like users above said, half jaw sniffed out the flood.
They do, but you can't see their noses under their armor. If you see a naked elite the have a nose. Well, I don't know if you could call it a nose, but they have two nostrils where their nose should be.
