It has been certified that there is a system where maps will show who Created the map, and who edited it last. Which means 1 - Maps cannot be stole, and 2 - Maps can be used to help other peoples maps (with their permition ofrourse) When i say that i mean, things like Aesthetic maps can be incorperated into other peoples maps using the clone tool to place the Aesthetic piece where you want on your map. Both people would get credit, the person who made the Aesthetic piece, and the person who incorperated it into his/her map.
Does anyone know if ForgeHub is going to do anything for Far Cry 2? Edit: The thing is how will get the "most" credit, the aesthetic maker or the gameplay maker?
There are about 14 vehicle variations altogether. Here are a few. Glider - available in different colours Pickup Truck with a Turret - Speed boat - Havnt seen this Sanpan - seen a few varieties Hovercraft - Looks like a canoe with a fan from Ikea on the back Datsun Coupe (smaller car) - Seen one or two of this style Jeep Wrangler - Seen about 4 or 5 different styles Dune Buggy - Sure i have seen 2 types And im guessing there is a larger truck, to carry many personel, but i havn't seen any. There are quite a few variations of these, i have seen in the editor that each weapon mounted vehicle has multiple variations. I would also note that most of the iconic vehicles have different colours, depending on the team they are on. The glider is one of those.
Whoa, so people could build, like the eiffel tower and then someone could put that in thier map! Cool. Someone build the hoover dam please!
Confirmation of 'Map Stealing'-proof system, and map sharing system Confirmation of 'Fast Travel' system Information about purchasing weapons Mortars?! Source
Hopefully it will have an integrated search feature. I'm glad they are using a public rating system to manage there most popular maps, much better than Bungie favs.
Matty, you win this thread. You've compiled so much useful information, is awesome. But on topic of the information: Thank the heavens (created by a lonely gamer the day the game came out) that maps are stealing proof. Too bad there'll be no more "To catch a map thief". But nontheless, its awesome. The weapon durability kicks ass. That is a little unecessary, and will be annoying, but so realistic, for movies and such. This game will surely win GOTY.
Alright, as of now I'm going to be selling a few games just so I can get this amazing game. I recently blew my money on clothes. =(
Really? Clothes? I don't understand how that works! Mebe it's just because I haven't bought a new pair of clothes in years.
verrry unlikely. Water can only be set as a height, it can't be placed or tweaked. All the water on a map will be the same height.
No seperate water heights, thats a bumer, same with no cave maker. However, the FC2 Editor is still going to be amazing! Edit: Matty, you should work on the wikipedia page for Far Cry 2. Seriously! It doesn't even talk about the map editor yet! Link
matty, glad to see you and others have taken note of this, I hope that bungie has taken note as well...When you say that you can place objects and edit with the game engine off, do you mean that you can go into the map editor and write script? Because Fritz and I were talking about FC2 last night, and we think that its going to be very similar to forge. What I mean by that is-- a click and drop system. You will not be able to go in and mod by writing your own code. However, if you can biuld things with in-game physics off, that would be nice. I still think Bungie will update forge with a new map, with more options. When Bungie says no full map editor, they mean no code writing. and that is a smart thing, b/c most people wouldn't know what to do in script.
The editor mode has no physics engine. Objects can float, objects arent affected by other objects, so you can create very delicate things that could not be capable in Forge. No you can't write script. But in the PC version, with modding you can do whatever you like.
