Anyone notice the lack of shows on nickolodeon? They have about five or six on their daily lineup, and about 60% of the time on there is all spongebob (which is starting to get old). Remember the "new episode friday" thing where they had new episodes for every show every week? Now only spongebob gets new episodes (about 5 every 6 months), and none of them are as good as the old ones.

    Nickolodeon is starting to die.
Heck, since avatar was taken off of there, i've had no reason to watch it.

CartoonNetwork is doing FAR worse. Where they used to have a sh*tload of awesome and/or hilarious cartoons, they have nothing but a bunch of mediocre piles of garbage that are funny solely because of how much they fail at entertaining people (I'd gladly pass up those shows for paid programing). Also, new episodes are almost nonexistant (not like they even matter since they are still mediocre). And Toonami? It is only good if you like 2 hours of anime (i spelled that right, right?).

CartoonNetwork, once the best place to watch animated Television, is on it's deathbed.

Why must our cartoons suffer? What can we do to make them worth watching again? Is animated television doomed to mediocricy?

I used to love watching CartoonNetwork when they had decent shows, but now they have little kiddy crap that not even little kids like. All of the good ideas have been used already, and re-using past ideas is just fail.

    Wait, how is this debatable?

I completely agree. Cartoon network used to be great with shows like Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, Angry Beavers, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Dexter's Lab, The Flintstones, The Jetsons. Now its all a bunch of 8-year old crap like Ben 10 and Camp Lazlo that I can't even watch more than 30 seconds of. I honestly only ever turn to Cartoon Network for Adult Swim to watch some Family Guy, Robot Chicken, ATHF and some other stuff.

Nick had a bunch of great shows too like Invader Zim (or was that on CN?), the Rugrats etc...

Everything in 'loony toons' is classic. edd ed n eddy was great tom and jerry...eh not a fan but its better than 8 year old crap like camp lazlo dexters lab is great never seen angry beavers......wait was that the show with the beavers in a cabin that were always arguing? I LOVED THAT! invader zim is my all time favorite cartoon. the flinstones and jetsons were also pretty damned good. A latecomer was MEGAS XLR but I still love that show.......too bad they cancelled it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia6SE-IRhJc&feature=related

Epic clip is epic. anyway can we get a move to off topic or general chat here? as this is hardly debatable.

    South Park FTW?

Also this isn't really a debate, its more opinion. It should be moved to the General Chat or Off Topic area.

Your right, this is true, but I think it's also a combinination of that, and us becoming older, and realizing that spongebobn and those shows are always on, though I do miss Chalkzone, Edd Ed and eddy, Angry /beavers, the greatest shows of all time, RUGRATS, and HEYY ARNOLD. This doresnt stop my little brother from watching it 24/7 though.

The same thing has been said for the past 10 years. Do any of you remember the good old days of Ren and Stimpy? Rocko's Modern Life? Legends of the Hidden Temple? Hell, what about the original Transformers series? Each generation gap always thinks their genre of entertainment was the "best". (usually) So you'll see this discussion everywhere for the rest of your life.

I still think Animaniacs was one of the best cartoon series out there. It introduced more intelligent humor (along with obnoxious humor) to kids that you just don't see now a days.

Personally, I saw the downfall of modern day cartoons the day Spongebob Squarepants was introduced.

Well, after reading through this topic, I have two words for all of..

    Adult Swim.

    Family Guy? Check.
    Dethklok? Check,
    Team Venture? Check.
    Coach McGuirk? Check.

Point is, Adult Swim is the best for animation around today.

Forgot Boondocks, sometimes futurama is on, Aqua Teen, and if Robot Chicken counts - Probably not. And DTL is right, every generation will think they have the best cartoons.

Yeah cartoons these days are horrible.

But theres still stuff to watch, and it really doesn't bother me.

    Do i think its horrible?

    Yes.

Do i think this should be debated?

I'm not sure what the sides are. Is someone going to pop up with cartoons that are still good? Doesn't look like it. This belongs in General Chat, if not Off Topic

MEGAS XLR was funny i liked that show.

I agree they are getting to be all about money and are unfunny now. Remember how the original Pokemon show was so hilarious, but the episodes now are just dumb. I remember Pokemon used to make me cry.

What? I generally included those along with the newer cartoons. (Ed Dexter Angry Beavers etc)

I really doubt this upcoming generation will think the same.
