The small pipes and containers(blocks) are in far cry instincts predator, so forge was stepping in far crys territory. It was made out of stairs and small various objects. And your right the clone feature is awesome.
Another map editor thing I noticed is a "Collection System". It appears to be a clipboard for a collection of objects, like a group of trees.
Mentioned in this video. Starting 5 minutes in. "There's been some construction of the Eiffel Tower with pipes." "So if you just want to be artistic, and not even care about creating multiplayer maps, then you can just use the little pieces you have, and clone them and place them, just like you would do with (unaudiable), for example..."
In my opinion, the ultimate goal, and the thing i will be evaluating others maps by, is the maps: - Originality (has the idea been done before, if so what new ideas have been created?) - Realism (Do the buildings look real? Does the town look like it could function as a town?) - Playability (Is the size of the map right? Are there no overpowering locations?) Its going to be very difficult to evaluate maps, because every map is going to look amazing. And another thing, in that same interview Coolant was talking about. He talked about changing the size of the playable area of the map, so you could only access an area of your map, but still see the rest of the map that was created Its a system very similar to Bf2's and Battlefield Bad Companies. Where if you stray too far from the area, you die. Its an amazing feature, it means that maps can still look open, and still contain extra scenery outside to make them look more real. In a city, the streets and buildings can continue outside of your playable area, and you don't have to worry that they can be abused, because they can't be accessed.
I disagree, but it depends on your opinions on the subject. In Far Cry, aesthetic brilliance will be very easy to achieve, so there will be less dependancy on gameplay, although when the novelty wears off (in about 10-15 years) people will rely on gameplay to sell a map. In Halo, most unusual aesthetics require quite a bit of patience and determination, but there is so much reliance on gameplay that little people have the time to bother with it.
Exactly matty. Considering how big each map is, they will most likely be breathtaking. I hope you can take screenshots, and people will make aesthetic things too.
pffft 'needs moar interlocking 2/5' 'geomerge that box 3/5' No offence but maps are hardly rated on gameplay anymore. Trust me since farcry takes the work out of making everything look nice and shiny it will be about gameplay. Unless farcry2's gameplay itself sucks. Than the above statement (made by you) would be true.
Farcry 1 has the worst gameplay known to man.So its about aesthetics. So i was just taking it off that.
Predator was awesome for rpgs but just itseld was horrible. My favorite part about farcry was its rpgs.
Oh your talking about farcry1's gameplay. Yes I hear it sucks. But you never know in farcry2 we may be pleasantly surprised. Either way I was just pointing out the flaws in that statement.
I didn't actully hear about it, I notice that is what they use to place the tree grouping in one of the videos. I'll try to get a picture.
