If the religion in this case didn't make the 'Queen' believe the child would be resurected after dieing then the child would still be alive. The religion had a lot to do with it. feel happy about the world? the world is a broken place. christianity isnt about us making up things to "PRETEND" to live a happier life, its more along the lines of excepting that we are imperfect, and flawed. if it was made up, then why is it so complex? are you sure you havent taken in only one side and decided your right without consideration and study on both ends? have you tried religion? or lived with it sincerely enough to come to a well considered conclusion? im sorry if i seem like im getting angry, its a heavily important lifestyle to me, and i respect your opinion. id just like to here a completely opposite view from mine.

this is the argument i'm making. being religous doesn't make you an obsessed freak. i mean honestly. you guys seriously are all about tolerance with sexuality and race and gender but not religion?
I'm not saying that if your religous you'll kill people for not praying right or anything, I'm just stating that I'm not religous.
just seems like it because you said "that is why i'm atheist", implying religous people are bound to do such things. i'm sure thats not the real reason you're atheist, so don't limit it to that. i'm not denying that they're doing it because of their religion, but really its like a small fraction of religions/cults that do stuff like this.
explain to me, what's the difference between a cult and religion? the only difference i see is that religions are majority groups and cults are minority groups. They are both belief systems and such. People look at cults and think they're loopy because they don't believe what most of us believe. If you guys decide to say **** religion because of these type of things then i think that's reasonable.

no you're misreading me. i'm not saying cults and religions are different. i'm just saying you can't lump all cults and all religions into one big pile. because one cult has starved an infant, something i agree is horrible, doesn't mean all religions are wrong, and so its not really, or at least it shouldn't be, "why you're atheist." this is saying, pretty much, that you're atheist because you're stereo typing, which isn't a very strong reason, and i'm sure there is stronger reason behind it. I agree that there isn't much a difference between cults and religions, except cults are smaller than traditional religions because of how off their beliefs are. As for your final comments, I too can understand how you could be mistrusting of religions after such an event, but you have to take into account that not all religions are like this, in fact this is one of the few.
