The toddler was starved for a religious reason, therefore I bring religion in. I'm a christian. Not an atheist. I'm just saying, this is what religion does to people. But yes, humans suck.

My point still stands. You'll have to try harder if you want to knock it down.

I wasn't trying to knock it down in the first place...

Religion has nothing to do with this, do you also say that a kid who plays violent video games will end up a killer?

It is the exact same argument

No it's not. At all. Religion is a state of mind. Video games are not. If truly believe in your religion, you will do whatever it says is correct. Video games are purely physically, rarely involving any mental thinking. Only if you have serious mental issues you will follow a video game.

There is a difference between what is right and wrong, video games and religion are just influencing your choices.

The ones who do this kind of thing are the ones that don't know the difference between right and wrong.

Hitler didn't think he was being evil, and neither were the people that killed this boy, they were just influenced by something, and failed to make the right choice

Hitler didn't know he was being evil? How do you know? He could've thought it was completely wrong, but it was for the good of the nation. In fact, I'm sure he did think that. But that brings me to my point again. If you truly believe in your religion, you will do whatever it says is right. Some parents would think their kid is the antichrist if he didn't say amen. Which is why I think religion is just a giant manipulative force. That's what I believe, and honestly, I don't need to hear why you think I'm wrong.

I am a christian, and I believe in the bible, that is it, that is all there is, anything else is an assumption.

I you find out where (in the bible) it says "If a child does not say amen, they should be painfully tortured to death"

    please, i'm waiting

So in the bible, ok, are you with me so far? In the bible, whenever a Christian prayed, they said something along the lines of thanking Jesus or God for his blessings and said amen. Prayer is a religious act. You are praying to whoever you decide to pray to. I'm a Christian, too, so don't act like I don't know what this means. I have to say prayer before I eat and after, we say amen. It just comes with religion. Get it? If the parents thought that saying amen was part of the religion, and wanted their kids to completely obey the religion because they truly believe in it, they will make them say amen in their prayer. AGAIN, we get back to my point. And please tell me you understand this, because if you don't....I just can't help you with anything.

So what you are saying is that the parents were punishing the kid for not saying amen (Not following the religion) by starving him to death?

If that's the way that they wanted to deal with it, yes. It's a psychological matter which sometimes you can't do anything about.

wow, thats aweful, but sometimes cults can go off on there own direction, and decide what they believe. its so shameful that this one had the idea to do this to a child over something so small. but also, i dont think that people are getting the whole truth here, i know your an athiest, reynbow, but there ARE stories of cripples walking again, through miracles in their faith. there are extrodinary stories, much much more surprising than this one that arent about death.

The largest threat to humanity is ourselves. I mean, this is pathetic. The kid might not of known any better. I can't even recall memories from when I was 15 months old.

That's outrageous. They all need to be killed. I would say starve them in jail to see how they like it.

Just because there are cults like this doesn't mean that ever religion is messed up. Sorry to be "that guy" but its really just lumping all religions together. And cults and religion aren't even really the same thing.

As for the article, that is so freaking screwed up. Whenever I hear about something like this, I think about my little sisters and I'm not sure how anyone could handle hurting a child like that. I know I'm not, and really hope I never will be.

That's just plain wrong. You can be religious, but at a point it can become too much. Wow...
