I'm not a huge sports fan but I do watch most of the Olympics and Last Friday I saw the Chinese Olympic opening and I was wondering what you guys liked or dislike abouted it. My favorite part had to be when they had the 2008 drummers lighting up their drums in a countdown. That took alot of practice I bet. Also, who also felt bad for the freakin cheerleaders clapping and dancing for 3 hours. Jeesus Christ.
Unfortunately, I did not get to watch the entire thing. But it's my fault. I was attending to a TGIF party, but every now and then I put it on the Openings, but I never watched it for too long. Wish I had. Only happens every 4 years.
the opening ceremonies are always a drag. Sooo incredibly long and drawn out. I was bar hopping that night and saw it on the tv at every bar spanning like 4 hours. ridiculous.
i loved it, but it was far too overdone. they spent 2 billion dollars on these games, they built 2 stadiums, and an extremely populous city of beijing, they ould have done much mroe important things with those 2 billion dollars. the show was amazing, maybe too amazing.
The opening ceremony was the best ever seen at an Olympic games. The amount of money spent on the stadium and ceremony was astronomical. It was basically a performance that will be unparalled in the Olympics for a great length of time. I have doubts now about Vancouver being able to do anything like this in 2010 when the Winter Olympics come to my home town, Vancouver. We basically got shown up by Chinese ingenuity. Of course the Parade of Nations where all of the 204 nations in the Olympics march around the stadium was lame as always. But the actual performance was absolutely stunning. Even the lighting of the Olympic torch was extremely creative.
Well i liked all the fireworks and the show but i hated the entrance of all the countries .. I watched like the first 5 mins of the entrances and played a 11 setlist on rock band .. Then watched the like 5mins .. It was longgggg .. but they are to introduced 204 countries though ..
Okay, seriously, let's lay some ground rules here. No Generalizing an entire race Quit being racist If you're going to insult someone/thing, give a reason for it. I'm really getting sick of that kinda talk.
I think we should have boycotted the Olympics this year in the first place. China is acting horribly towards Tibet and human rights violations are getting worse as time goes on.
Meh, the ceremony was good. The lighting of the Torch was good. I didn't think much else of everything else, although the human block thing was cool.
