What the **** did you just say? If your computer sucked, then you got Vista on it then there shouldn't be a change, because it's still a **** computer.

unless I read that wrong, in which case, disregard above text.

btw: I had vista, and i'll personally say I don't like it. It looks great I guess but other than looks it's really just full of features that I won't necessarily use after the first 3 days. I'm fine with Windows 98 and XP. Personally for me it's

    Windows '98>XP>Vista

I mean, all I ever do on my computer is photoshop, check email, browse web and IM friends. And thats all I ever need it for. Occasionally watch movies but all three are capable. Vista just decides to 'take it to the max' because it's loaded with a bunch of garbage that most people don't use.

But in general I like Macs, way more. It's just a cleaner setup in my opinion and it's targeted more for my needs.

    So at the final count:

    Mac>'98>XP>Vista

The only thing i hate is it asks you about everything....

Everytime i try to move a file i get security questions and stuff, it annoys the crap out of me. That's the only flaw besides the lack of incompatibility. I have it set so it doesn't looks as sleek, just to boost performance, but it still doesn't look too bad.

OMG thank you! You have Leopard, right?
Oh, and Masterjelly7: You get +rep.
Also, seeing as I want to help:
Vista won't always suck. You wanna know why work computers are all still stuck on XP? Well, seeing as Windows keeps trying (And failing) to beat apple, they release all they're products early, before they're fully completed. When they finish updating vista, they'll move on to Windows 7 (The codename for the next windows thing), because there will be nothing left to update. When that comes out, all the work computers and **** will be updated to Vista because it's as complete as it'll ever get at that point.
That's what I do, and why I use XP on my PC (Of course I have a mac, and that's on Leopard, the latest version, because Apple isn't as irrational as Windows and COMPLETES their products before release).
I fact, windows pretty much did Apple a favour with the release of Vista, which lead to many PC owners migrating to mac.
    I should know, I use both OS's.

My Vista runs beastly. I love it, it was faster then my XP. Vista rocks. I have a computer that has parts that aren't in circulation yet.

Man there are a lot of banned members now? The mods are doing a good job getting rid of these rude people.

Any steve, the problems with Vista are: it's supposed to be super and advanced, yet it fails at simple tasks and makes previously easy things so much more difficult.
Also, they rushed it because of OSX's release..and they tried to copy OSIX, and X too much. They should have stuck with the simplicity people loved from XP. Many gamer nerds play on XP, because 1) classics, and hardcore games run better on it. 2) Some new games won't run at all on Vista.

Seriously, I plan on dual booting my new Gaming laptop with xp and vista, or possibly vista and linix. I only want vista for the games that require it.

I use mac as well, at school for video editing, and they are great, but like my friend says... They are overly large, plastic toys that look cool but have almost no function beyond basic stuff. Seriously, I am almost more comfortable on a PC, cause I like doing half of the stuff Apple does on my own in a PC. However, it's great for my creative side, cause in that sense, all I have to do is focus on my project, not what it is doing to my computer.

It just uses too much of my RAM and always gets random errors. Vista contradicts itself

Yeah, well that is definately the problem, its more these annoying updates, that keep comming up that stress me out, I keep thinkin' I'll end up 'bricking' it ahhhhh!

I hate the updates that just update themselves. Like "Oh, while you were gone, I took the liberty of restarting your computer and ruining everything you had before." And the updates don't even do anything

Yeah you have to have at least 2 gigs of ram to even do anything on a vista comp. Most of the run of the mill laptops that people by for school only have a gig. Therefore..you've got a worse computer than if you used ME on a laptop from 2000 lol.

I never got Vista because of its bad reviews but apparently it isn't that bad... I will get it in the near future though...

EEEEXACTLY. Mac can run Windows anyway. Bootcamp & Parallels ftw
Are you serious? There are SO many things I am yearning for right now that I could be doing on a Mac, but can't because I'm being forced to use a PC as the Mac's in use.

Macs for graphics and arts, design, word processing, music editing..that creative ****. Macs are the king of that.

PC's are for nearly illiterate computer people (by that I mean not at all tech savy), gamers and the majority of businesses. Though macs do make a good work comp as well.

    Agreedness =D
Also, Macs look good when they're neat. Basically, I use the desktop for aesthetics only. I put all my folders away in the finder and even hid the Macintosh HD via finder preferences. All the apps I use are on the dock.
I LOVE my desktop though, I set it to move through selected wallpapers once a minute.
    Win.

One of the stages it cycles through:

I think the general consensus is, instead of spending money on Vista, buy a mac mini.
