If you can manage it, the solo butttons make that damn solo a lot easier, especially the part where it just goes up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down FOREVER.

Otherwise, just strum and hit buttons. Save some Star power (Oh wait... Overdrive. Whatever) for that part and try not to die.

That's easily the hardest guitar song on that game, so if you can beat that you're clear.
PROTIP: If you aren't playing on Wii and the solo buttons aren't helping, use a GH guitar! Soooo much easier... :lol:

 

Well, I can't play that fast, so I play the downwards waterfalls and skip the up note. That's only because I can play down better than up, but if you can play up better than down, then play the upwards waterfalls and skip the down note. As long as you have full Star Power, you'll be hitting ~75% of the notes so if you slip up just deploy overdrive and keep trying.

 

Oh yeah that's a good idea, you're only missing one note out of 4

Like that you could probably go on for awhile without even using Overdrive

 

if you are using arock band guitar switch to the guitar hero 3 one. it is by far the better guitar, you can strum faster with it

There really aren't any bugs in those kinds of games, nothing exploitable, especially if you're going for Achievements. All you can really do is grab a GHIII guitar and pray

 

No, don't use a GH guitar. The solo buttons are life savers for sure. Here's how I go about finishing the song: At the zig-zags, don't try and hit them all. Do this instead:

x-o-x-o-x-o-x-o-x-o-x-o-x
---o---o---o---o---o---o-

See where the Xs are? Miss those notes and play like it's triplets. Way easier, and as long as you only miss those X-ed notes, you should get through there with no problem. Also, make sure you have green performance and Overdrive when you go in there. Just in case. At the end, when you get lots of fast triplets, hold down the yellow note and tap the blue and orange with the fingers on your other hand. That makes it easier to keep up the pace.

Also, if you start missing, pick up the pace of your HOPOs for a little bit; you'll find the timing again, and can slow back down once you do.

Everything is pretty easy, except the end of the solo.

 

Well, I pretty much do it subconsciously. That I do is watch for the green notes (and later, the reds), and hammer in time. That way, you don't have to actively miss the second middle note. Play it as triples, watching for the first note in the series. If I had the right recording equipment, I'd make a video, but I don't so I won't.

 

A good way to explain the note skipping: this is basically the run:

=O=O=O=O=O=O=O=O=
O===O===O===O===O
Up and down and up and down and death XD
So, you can basically eliminate every other middle note to make runs of your choosing, up or down:
==O===O===O===O==
=O=X=O=X=O=X=O=X=
O===O===O===O===O
Woot! normal runs.

 

Exactly, try strumming 2 times each waterfall, that way if you aren't fast enough and miss the second note you'll at least grab the last note.

 

I actually 5-starred the damn song. It took a few tries, but I got it with a score of around 284k.

Now all I have to 5-star is Thrasher and Snow (Hey Oh). Those songs are so f---ing hard.
