Thank you. I really thought hard on a story that didn't sound too corny. I'd also like to say that this has recently been posted on the Bungie forums also.
pretty sweet looking dragon. im sure its a great structure for game play. looks like these a pretty good amount of cover too. ill DL and check it out. good job
.....I HAVE BEEN WAITING, for this magically majestic map, and its finally here...I didnt even KNOW you made a base in the back too, and I would add an easter egg firebomb SOMEWHERE (in the eye sockets....hint hint) haha and that should give another nice edge to it...5/5 one of the best dragons ive ever seen!
9/10. its beautiful, but usually aesthetic maps don't play to well competitively. oh well, i haven't tried this map yet, so i can't be sure, but it may end up playing really well..
Trust me, it plays excellently. Otherwise we'd have put it in aesthetic. The reason it plays so well is that we didn't focus solely on the main aesthetic feature like most maps do. Rather, we designed a full layout for the map, set lines of sight, etc. Most aesthetic maps are all about combat on or around the main cool thing, but this map was designed with multiple side structures and other places to play. Basically, it's a competitive map with what would normally be a building or a base replaced by a dragon. You can trust me that it plays perfectly on every gametype. We tested it for over three weeks, which means there have probably been 20+ hours of testing logged on it.
That is exactly what I was going for. I'm glad someone finally commented on that. I've decided that my maps in the future will most often be made with the purpose of crossing two different fields. I'm seeing race+competitive in the future. Not necessarily for my very next map, but it's an idea.
Good luck with that. Keep in mind that most people HATE race maps. Look at HaloTracks. Their time on Bungie Favorites has resulted in much bitching in matchmaking lobbies I've been in. If I were you, I'd either do another competitive/aesthetic cross, or a minigame/aesthetic cross. Even an infection/aesthetic cross would be great. Stick with aesthetic stuff though, that's by far your strongest point. You are the god of teh artz.
This is an amazing first post dude. *cry's in corner about own first post* I can't wait to see some of the maps you make in the future. You look like a very very promising forger and im glad to have DL'd this map.
Yeah, I just looked on the Bungie Favorites archive and EVERYTHING from Halo Tracks, even the maps are 2 or 3 stars with about 1000 ratings on each. I do not think I will try a race map any time soon. Probably yes on another competitive/aesthetic. I'd have to research minigame maps a bit more before I tried making a good one.
I saw this a couple days ago and I thought that I commented already, but looking back I have not. But I meant to say how awesome and impressive this looks. I hope it plays well too. I'm keeping this one until I can get an actual game played on it.
Indeed we do. After all that testing, I'd definitely recommend basic stuff like Slayer and KOTH, but also One Flag, One Bomb, and Territories. Epicness will happen, and screenshots of friends dying in awesome ways will be soon to follow.
WOW! that is one scary dragon, but one thing... MAKE THE FIRST PIC SMALLER. IT TOOK ME LIKE A ZILLION BAZILLION MINUTES TO DOWNLOAD ON A BROADBAND CONNECTION! Other than that I can't believe how innivative this is. Keep Forging.
Maybe I should just make the pic smaller. It will help in situations like this and make the dragon easier to see. But no matter what size I make something in photobucket, forgehub resizes it to that size. Does anybody know how to make a pic show up smaller? If so, I'd like to know. No rhyme intended.
Hmmm.... you don't see that everyday. Dragon inside of Foundry. Anyway this map looks awesome and its really cool that its also competitive even though it looks aesthetics. Mmmm.... 5 star....
Yes. Statues/aesthetic sculptures in a competitive map are just what I like to do. Wait till the next one. It's for a certain contest.
