Unless you find me scientific evidence and sources of a high chance of a meteor hitting earth within the next four years, I highly doubt the world will come to end. Global warming isn't that bad. Although it's strange that the Mayan calender stopped on whichever date in 2012, what makes you think that they could foresee into the future to find out their fate and the world's for that matter? It sounds a little strange to me. The only proof for either side of this argument is if we wait till then...
Hasn't anyone seen the movie Armaggedon. We have the technology to do the exact same thing that they did. And Beside the point we would know of any rogue comet or meteor coming towards Earth at least 2 months before it actually happened. Besides... By that point some of Earths population may be on the moon. What I am trying to say is that the 200 people living on the moon have the ability to repopulate until the Earth is habitable again. We have already found ways to turn the carbon in the moons soil into oxygen and water. If the apocalypse does happen in 2012, we will be prepared. Sure most of the population of Earth will die. But the human race will live on. Fear not my friends.
I think that we would have already known about a meteor coming toward Earth and hitting it by now. We have a federal government program that tracks most, if not, all of the meteors and asteroids in the Solar System. It is underfunded, receiving only 4 million dollars a year. This info is based on a television show that protrayed a possible disaster by Asteroid, around two years ago, possibly on the History channel. I think the human race is going to kill itself. Pollution, increased spread of disease by plane, etc., is the most likely causes. I think in 2012, there will be a government program that will announce, basically, our death sentence date. On that date, not in 2012, but after that, humanity will be completely wiped out due to an event, by some cause that I have mentioned earlier.
I watched some documentary before Indie 4 came out. And it talked about the real crystal skulls and the Mayan calenders... The reason the Calender ended on Dec 21 2012 is because on that day, The earth will be in some direct alignment with something else in the universe. And the magnetic field might reverse... Causing floods, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes... "pretty much the scariest environment imaginable" - Rockhound - Armaggedon I doubt this will result in the destruction of mankind. Even if it does, not all life will be destroyed. Life will find a way, it always does, it always will. Even if humanity is wiped out from the face of the earth, even if mammals are wiped out. Bacteria will still survive, we evolved from bacteria, we can again.

Also something that I've been thinking about, Global Warming. What alot of people don't get is that global warming isn't about the earth turning into one massive desert, it's about the polar caps heating up and melting all the ice and the glaciers, this will flow into the oceans, causing flooding along the coastlines and lakes. All the fresh water flowing into the oceans could possibly throw off the currents. This would result in a complete change of the weather system. Crops would die, killing livestock, and possibly even starving humanity into extinction... possibly even creating another ice age. (The Day After Tomorrow) When 2012 comes, I will be sure to have an emergency survival kit just incase something happens... Call it paranoia if you will. But when the time comes for humanity to fight for its right to survive. Will you be ready? BTW, if you're wondering what happened to the Mayans, apparently Bl00D F1R3 knows where they are... We were talking about it on the way to Tim Hortons a couple days ago...
I do not think the world will end in 2012 because in history there are many accounts of people saying the world was going to end on random dates like in the late 1800s people thought the world was going to end but it didn't. So I think this is no different, and if the world would end it would be by zombies/aliens riding a asteroid and hitting a nuke!
In my honest option I realyl don't beleave anything the media says anymore with armagedon. After all there have been sevral things like this with put the world in to panic. Might I remind you of Y2k? Thats why I do not bealve any of this
Global Warming is a natural cycle, just like the Ice Age. Why would the earth suddenly cool down dramtically and not also warm up dramatically? Its because of the different ways that the Earth is spinning on its Axis. 2012 has nothing to do with Global Warming
