What with E3 and that (marketing like) Forge Retrospective I have been thinking about Far Cry2 and it's Map Making feature a lot lately. I personally loved the Map Maker in previous versions and am very excited to start pumping out maps with the next edition.

I am very interested to know if ForgeHub will diversify to accommodate Far Cry 2 maps. From a business perspective, this would be a wise move for the founders as new users would be attracted by the variety and current users will be tempted by fresh content, meaning the site usage should increase.

I can't really see a valid counter argument for this move, I expect some will object to such a move on the grounds that it would abandon ForgeHub's roots. I disagree, as ForgeHub will continue to produce Halo maps as long as the users create them, the only difference will be the Far Cry 2 maps will also be showcased. Perhaps ForgeHub could also diversify into other games that encourage User-created content (though I don't know any others).

Please discuss your opinions on the matter, as I am curious to know what the community would make of such a move should the administrators choose to diversify.

This is ForgeHub. Not farcry2 mapmaking hub
Yes it may be a cool feature and it was too in far cry.
But you dont get to play it on Halo. That's its biggest flaw.
Farcry maps, no doubt will be posted here but I dont think there'll be a featured Far Cry section.

Sorry but your maps needs more interlocking and pics if we are going to give you a map section of our forums.

Forge is actually a term that has to do with the creating of anything from raw material so technically any game with a mapmaker is technically eligable to be here

Exactly, no interlocking means no sub forum for you.

Quit spamming, this is a legitimate topic.

For those of you not in the know, at E3 Far Cry 2 was announced to support map sharing and rating online on PC, 360 and PS3. Effectively it could potentially be supported in a similar fashion to Halo 3's forge mode.

I had a legit point earlier. The first Far Cry's Map Making feature was great, but Far Cry itself didnt have very good gameplay, thus why it was overlooked. If has a similar system to how the Halo Maps are set out for dl and sharing that'd be cool. I havent had a good look into Far Cry 2 yet, I think I might.

I was pointing out how hard it would it would be to share on this website because of the picture requirement for maps. Theres no theater in FarCry 2 is there?

I am all for expanding the inclusion of Farcry 2. I personally think that the map maker will add so much more of a variety to this site that is definitly needed *cough* foundry *cough*
Obviously the rules would be changed for Farcry maps

I think there was a screenshot facility in FCIP, but with 99.99% of new games supporting screenshot uploads to the developers website (eg Bad Company) not to mention the growing culture of user-based content I think it's a wise bet to say that FC2 will have some kind of picture taking service.

Also I completely agree with the assertion that Far Cry's gameplay was pants, especially with the half-hearted Xbox 360 versions, but the quality of Far Cry 2 seems to have improved considerably.

I'd love to see map sharing outside of Halo 3, but without the ability to make your own screenshots, and without any sort of Bungie.net-styled support, it could get difficult and messy. Mebe we'll get lucky and Ubi will use Halo 3 as a development model.

omg yes that is what should happenn.... farcry instincts pread. was awsome, and the map editer saved the game. i was a huge part of the FC360 community and helped with famous hurricain wilky, on many historik maps, and even developed some fc glitches for map editing. anyone remember automon??? yep worked with him too.

but to make it user friendly the team at FC will atleast need to have a shair system, as well as party system in the editer like the forge. thost who frown or argue with this are not really map makers, and are noobs. i would sudgest renting fcIP and get back to me.

    100% support

Talk to Nitrous about this, maybe you can persuade him about this. I would love to see more diversification in Forge Hub.

That would actually be a cool edition that would give this site life beyond halo 3's own life span. Way better than having a debate forum.

Yah, debate was fun at first, but it's kind of gotten old no one wants to fight in these forums anyways, thats just silly. A Far Cry 2 section would make a great replacement for the Debate Forum. BTW, you should bring it up in the Customer Service Forum. The mods will definitely get a good look at it and respond with thoughtful comment.

    FORGE: –verb
1.to form by heating and hammering; beat into shape.
2.to form or make, esp. by concentrated effort: to forge a friendship through mutual trust.
3.to imitate (handwriting, a signature, etc.) fraudulently; fabricate a forgery.
