This is also the (un)official Batman Discussion thread as of the 17th of July. Any other discussion threads are inferior. Any other Reviews may or may not be inferior, it depends on the writer.

    Here's my reveiw of it:
First off, I dont write movie reviews very often so forgive me if its not up to par.
Good evening forgers, you’re all looking well today.

This here is a review on the just released Batman Movie, The Dark Knight.
My official classification of this movie is: Must See.

Before I really get started I’ll say there's like one kind of big spoiler, I will put it in white and give you a spoiler alert which will look like this = (Spoiler Alert), so that if you do not wish this to ruin any surprises the movie has in store. I will also have minor spoilers = (Minor Spoiler) I won’t put what follows in white though.
    Edit: Major Spoilers Removed.

I would recommend seeing the previous ones first so that you really have a feel for the Batman Movies but if you’re a batman fan; rest assured this will satisfy your desires and then some. It's like 2 movies interlocked into one awesome masterpeice of a movie. I'll let you truely realise that by watching it youreslf.

I’ll start with the negatives. One thing that was used quite frequently throughout the first half of the film was rotating camera angles. Where the camera would follow the actor(s) around in circles; as if in theatre mode and holding left/right on the joystick. That was a bit annoying but didn’t affect the movie at all. It would’ve been the same with or without thode shots.

Another thing that was a kind of a disappointment was (minor spoiler) the fact how there was barely any back story on the Joker. Yes, his scars were explained but I would’ve like to have known why it was that his face was white. In the Batman movie from 1992, the Joker’s disfigurement is explained at the start. Batman pushes him into a tank of some kind of acid and the doctor fails to successfully restore his face and thus the white. I believe that Jack Nicholson did a great job of the joker in 92 but 16 years passed that style of villain is just not plausible. The late Heath Ledger did a magnificent job of the Joker and deserves all of the accolades he receives. There are two separate occasions where the Joker himself explains his large smile/disfigurement. In one occasion he says that his father did it to him at young age after muttering the words “Why so serious, son?” and on the other occasion he says he did it to himself to satisfy his previous wife whom was obsessed with plastic surgery. Either way, it didn’t impress me that the Joker didn’t have much of a back story.

I expected this movie to be mainly about the Joker’s past and what made him who he is, a love story involving Batman which of course cannot be, conflict between villain and hero, hero wins with side stories all intertwined.

I expected the Harvey Dent character to have his foundations done in this movie. For those of you who may not know, Harvey Dent is the name for another one of Batman’s notable foes, Two Face (the man in my sig). His character was built a lot more than I had anticipated, much more than in the original series of movies in the 90s. In those, the story is that he had acid thrown onto his face and developed a split personality. Actually Harvey Dent was in 3 of the movies in the 90s. But in the first two he is Black, and I believe it is the actor who played Lando Calrissian too.

One feature that blew me away is that finally, after 16 long years, Batman can turn his neck. That’s right folks, the suit has had some major maintenance done. He is now able to turn his neck, amazing, no?

But in all seriousness, this is a great movie. Its a great experience. And I use the word experience as the movie runs for about 2 and a half hours. And so you don't waste your time, there is nothing at the end of the credits.

Batman’s gadgets are always improving they’ve come a long way from Bat-Shark Repellent.
    From something like this...

    To something like this...

I also like how its described with detail very quickly so that there isn’t a lot of emphasis on how it works only that it does work. The action, the drama, the effects the fights all great.

One thing that kind of baffled me was Joker’s high threshold for pain. Batman slams his face onto a steel table and punches, as strong as Captain Falcon’s punches, him several times and rams his face into a sheet of glass probably an inch or two thick and it cracks!

The plausibility in the Batman movies is crucial as it keeps them from being comical. This has done that superbly. The few small jokes and puns, all great. The Bat-Pod was a nice addition to his already large list of toys. It resembles the Chopper, for all you map-makers out there.
I believe the Bat-Cave is gone or temporarily out of action because his house was destroyed in Batman Begins. It is now a large empty room under where he lives, it contains all of his stuff, equipment, suit, computer etc.

The side roles on the movie were done great, without them Batman cannot be. Alfred has been casted excellently, it is great to see an Aussie such a role in the new series of Batman movies. The now commissioner Gordon plays a more dominant role in the movie and is used very well. Lucias Fox, Batman’s personal...um taylor, he also plays a role in this, similar to how he did in the previous; just assisting Batman with all of the items he needed.

The new demonic and Australian(take that America) Joker is something any Batman or Heath Ledger fan must see. His antics, speeches, are all amazing. In my honest opinion his greatest film. And Christian Bale has remained consisitent as a great and fitting Batman. His raspy voice when in suit matches the new style of Batman Movies. Unfortuneately things seem to rapped up pretty tightly with no need for a next movie, I highly doubt I'm right on that, but I'm just saying.

If you do not see this, you are truly a fool. It has been made to perfection and must be seen by all. If you don't go out and see this as soon as you’re able to, you are doing yourself a large disservice.

Overall, 9.5/10. You must see this movie. It is not a matter up for debate,
you must see The Dark Knight.

Well that's my reveiw, I dont do reveiws for movies very often so, again, I apologize if it isnt up to par.

Cut them out for me pl0x?

You could have it coded into the bottom of it, with big, bold letters above it saying:

    Not spoiled version!

Just a thought for others like me.

I can't ****ing wait to see this movie. I've heard nothing but positive reviews (Thanks for editing the spoilers, I don't want to know more than I already do) and I haven't been this excited by a movie in a long time. You're a total bastard for seeing it before us Yanks get a chance, by the way.

I'm the same, I've never been so pumped to see a movie in my life. When I saw that it came out today, well... I nearly **** bricks. I made sure that I saw the very first session.

In NJ, tickets have been sold out three weeks prior to the release of the movie. I will not sacrifice my sanity (people kicking my chair, talking, talking in different languages, babies, people chewing with there mouth open, noisy kids that get kicked out after I complain about them.) to go see batman. However, I will eventually see it possible a month after the movie is out.

The review was nice. I skipped around because of spoiler or two. Looking forward to see the movie.
