Because I am very confused with posting pictures from PhotoBucket on here then here are the bungie.net links to the pictures I was bored one day and was Forging because to get map ideas I just Forge and create random things to get ideas for maps. Then I tryed to Geo Merge and Interlock two Single Boxes and I created a cool new item. Also I Geo Merged Stairs so they could perfectly go up stairs and get to the top. It has -Two Side panels where you can keep weapons like Battle Rifles. -A cool looking doorway that you can walk into because its Geo Merged. -It looks pretty cool. -It provides cover but you still cant camp in it. And since I havent really tested it then I am sure someone will either perfect it or find more use to it. But please tell me what you think of this. I found this accidentlly one day. But this one was while I was trying. So please tell me what you think. Here is a link to how I made it Bungie.net : Community : Forum Topic Listing : Forum Reply Listing
It sounds cool but could you please post a picture of it. It would be better to see it before DL'ing it.
Though a description is good, a picture is worth a thousand words. So unless you want to type a REALLY long description, I suggest you take a pic of the finished product for simplicity's sake. Those of us at work can't just download and watch a film.
Two interlocked geomerged open boxes plus geomerged stairs, eh? It's not awful, and your geomerging technique is on par with most I've seen, but to put it bluntly, it's nothing special. Haven't seen it done before (especially with open boxes @_@), but honestly, the little BR spots that you have were the result of what appears to have been a mistake. Better way to merge the stairs, though, would have been to use the geomerged boxes as guides.
Actually yes I did make a small mistake when I actualy found this but it turned into something good. And I will go take a picture and post it soon.
Also when you say par what do you mean? Cause I really dont see par come up much. Also when I am not making a map and screwing around I dont really try as hard as I would if I were making a map. So I didnt try as hard to Geo Merge perfectlly.
Since I am still kind of new to forgeHub. Well actually I have been here for a while but just started using ForgeHub. So how do I make the pictures bigger? Cause the arrows only let me move it.
1. don't double post 2. you have to save the pics from the screenshot veiwer not the little pic next to the screenshot on bungie.net
First of all, don't use the insert image tool, ever, it's wierd. also, take the direct link(there is a list of links under the small picture off of photobucket, and paste it here inside code like so:
[img]http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk196/ShadowVanish/44966860l.jpg
I tryed that and it just showed the links. Then I tryed Insert Image and it still didnt work. This is confusing I might just post the links to the pictures on bungie.net instead of using Photo Bucket.
I looked through your fileshare and saw the pic. I really don't see the point of it, it doesn't looks all that useful.
Well I thought I could use it or someone else could because of the Side panels. Like use it in an MLG map or something. And I just noticed that next to my name it says Vanish is in need of Interlocking. I can Interlock. I just havent made a map in a long time since I have been busy with alot of other things. When I am done with my 21 unfinished maps you will see. And in my Shadow Factory map if you see it then delete stuff to see how its made you will see I can Interlock if I try. I just dont have enough patience to make a map, to me it must be perfect, and I just dont have the time.
Par (see definition 2): Par is a golfing term meaning the number of shots it should take to make it from the starting point to the hole. Outside of golf, it means the common level of skill with which certain tasks are expected to be performed. My saying that your geomerging skills are up to par basically means that I think you're just as capable with your geomerging abilities as the majority of members on this site. Back on topic, though, I will say that borrowing your method of geomerging the open boxes sideways into the ground is really helpful. Until now, I'd been having some fairly huge difficulty effectively sinking a few boxes into the ground to create "garages" of sorts, but your method really helped. Maybe I can even borrow the geomerging-interlock thing of the two juxtaposed open boxes to turn them into bunkers of sorts. While it isn't anything spectacular, I will say that it does have its uses.
Ok don't blame me badly for this but I need someone to clarify something for me. Ok so I don't think that item provides much cover at all... WAIT!! Hear me out first. Ok so if you turn an open box upside down and then stand in it, you float a little bit off the ground right? (I hope I'm right...) And if you place an item in that flipped open box it floats too, so doesn't it stand to reason that an open box on it's side will provide very little room to move side-to-side if there are invisible barriers at the 'top' of each open box? I really hope I'm right or I'm gonna take some serious flak for this On a side note, It does provide cover from the sides but no more than a regular open box merged right-side up into the floor
In need of interlocking is just one of the many little comment you can have for your rep if you get more positive like 1-10 its says you are user and every so often it will change based on your rep This is actually a good idea and i will try it out
You're wrong, the box's corners are fully accessable. Granted, you might not be able to get exactly in them, but you can get to them. *is employing the cover idea in his latest map to make bunkers for people to safely spawn in*
How I see it is because of how small the area is the small walls that it creates gives you enough room so you vcan hide there and not get shot but still be able to get hurt by explosions. So its good but its not smart to camp there.
interesting idea. It looks like it would be cool as the base structure for that one map making contest where u use a uniform base structure to make a map
