We don't know if it is 3rd person, just cause it mentioned GoW does not mean it will be taking the third person aspect. But, I am fine with 3rd person, so that will be cool. The other day me and my friend were talking, and he is a PS fanboy and refuses to play Halo 3 saying "Bungie is a scam" and he said he hoped they got off this Halo thing. I said I think you will play a person sent in a group of people to the "mysterious planet" and later encounter a living or dead chief. Looks like I might be right. As for this new aspect, I can actually see this. Playing a marine instead of a super soldier. However, it is the same weapons, and how can the differences of Master Chief BR be to Marine BR? Even if the power of the weapons remain the same, the new gameplay will affect them dramatically, which is something hard to invision at this time.
Wow. That actually seems very interesting. However, I don't think that bungie would be able to pull off the gears of war style gameplay with the set bulkey and somewhat fantasy-like opponents. Gravity hammers, rocket launchers, and needlers would be really hard to work with in a run, duck and cover system. No offense anyone (especially bungie) but halo is not one of those games that is meant to be gruesome or scary or overly manly. Whenever the sarge or a marine even swears it always feels out of place to me. This guy who sounds like that guy off the Simpsons with all the pimples is saying "DIE YOU SON OF A-!" And I'm like, dude, no. I also notice when sarge takes out his cigar, then puts it back in, then takes it out, then puts it back in, like bungie thinks it looks really cool and wanted him to do it as much as possible.
That also worries me. Not that bungie can't pull it off, but the chances that they probably won't even try. We probably will be playing ODST guys, and being UNSC, we use pretty much only UNSC weapons. That means SMG Magnum Battle Rifle Assault Rifle Sniper Rifle Shotgun and the occasional Rocket Launcer and maybe even Spartan Laser for "boss vehicles" in the game. Here are my hopes, they pull off a good squad AI. Star Wars: Republic Commando anyone? It has to have the best squad AI to date, even with modern games. It was amazing, and campaign was fun. Seriously, look it up if you don't know what I am talking about. Mix Halo with that, and you have a masterpiece.
I wonder if forge will disappear. I also wonder since marines have no shields, if they'll revert back to Halo and you'll have to get med kits. I'm very sure they thought this out thoroughly. Although, I believe that maybe letting people have a selection between third or first person shooter would be nice. Like Elder Scrolls Oblivion.

awww 3rd person? 1st person squad game would be epic on so many levels. Plus the odst's are sheildless and as such I want a minigame where its just waves of covenant coming at you and you get points for each wave defeated+ enemys killed. Because lets face it.......a campaign where you have no sheild in 1st person wearing odst stuff....is epic period.

Usually when info is released on gamespot it is, or when they're not sure, it says that it is just rumored, which it doesn't necessarily state in the reading. Even at the end, they know that people will question it so they say "Based on the strength of the source, this is almost certainly not bogus. And with Bungie's teaser last week, news about the game could arrive as soon as tomorrow's Microsoft press conference at the E3 Media & Business Summit." We know that the movie will be coming soon, and it will not be directly about the chief. Maybe this game is going to recap the movie.
sorry to burst your bubble but the movie is no longer comming. They scrapped it because there wasnt enought money involved and a few companies backed out.
