*SCROLL DOWN IF YOU JUST WANT A TUT*

Ok so I was messing around in forge with my friend one day. I was trying to think of ideas maps. Anyway, I spawned a double box and was going to interlock it. I set it to spawn 30 seconds in.

I'll try and get to the point. My friend was standing where the box was going to spawn. When it spawned he was pushed underneath the map. He died so after. But I thought it was interesting, so I started a new round and went under myself. We found out that you can then turn into a monitor and live.

So I was flying around down there, not thinking it was really worth anything. However, after messing around for a bit, I found that you could merge movable objects into the map geometry. That's right you read it right.

YOU CAN MERGE MOVABLE OBJECTS WITH THE MAP GEOMETRY.

    Now for a tut...

BEFORE YOU MERGE A MOVABLE OBJECT INTO THE FLOOR YOU MUST FIRST MERGE A WALL UNDERNEATH THE MAP; HERE's HOW:

1.Place a wall or double wall (depending on the size of the object) flat on Foundry's floor
2.Place braces around the wall, other walls seem to work best.
    3. Set them all to not spawn at start
    4. Start a new round
    5. Place a double box over the spawn point for the wall you wish to push under BUT MAKE SURE THERE IS ENOUGH ROOM TO GRAB THE WALL.
    6. Spawn all the walls
    7. Grab the wall you will be pushing under (it should be underneath the level) , and without letting go of it, save and quit
    8. Now your going to have to go under the level by following the steps below

There is an alternate way to push the wall under discovered by PegasiDelta. His method involves the use of doors to push the wall under. Here's how:

    ::GET UNDER THE LEVEL::

    1. Spawn a double box
    2. Set the box to spawn 30 seconds into the game
    3. Start a new round
    4. Stand (in player mode) directly above the spawn marker for the box (the teardrop)
5.Wait, and try not to move
    6. When the box spawns, wiggle the thumbstick left to right fast, this will force you underneath the level. *DO NOT TURN INTO MONITOR MODE WHILE INSIDE THE BOX IT WILL PUSH YOU OUTSIDE*
    7. Once underneath the level, turn into a monitor

Before merging with the map takes place you must first go underneath the level, and grab the wall you pushed under and move it. Move it how ever far you want the object to be merged. After that follow the following steps. (LOL)

::MERGE MOVEABLE OBJECTS WITH THE MAP::

    1. Spawn another box on the same side of the map that you will be pushed underneath. * THIS IS IMPORTANT* If you don't spawn it on the same side as the box that pushes you under, you will not be able to see it later.

-It is also important to have this box above the wall that you pushed under earlier-

    2. Set this box to spawn around 180 seconds into the game
    3. Start a new round
    4. Spawn the object you which to merge on the tear drop of the 'pushing double box'
    5. Go underneath the level, See above tutorial
    6. Go underneath the 'pushing box' and spawn it
    7. Wait for the object to fall underneath the level and grab it.
    8. It should be on your wall.
    9. Turn into player mode, this should bring you to the surface
    10. Delete the pushing box

You should now have your object merged with the ground.

    :NOTES:

You can push vehicles underneath also, but I haven't been able to get in them. =(

Oh, and you can see everything on the map while your under the map.

I believe this will help aesthetics and map design greatly. I wanted to get the idea out there to see what you guys will do with it. I can see lots of great things coming out of this.

Also note that some objects are harder to keep under than others. Barriers, Semis, and Forklifts are some of the harder ones I came across...

SORRY FOR THE OVERWHELMING TUTORIAL BUT I CAN'T REALLY SLIM IT DOWN.

    Epic.

It's time consuming, but totally awesome.

Someone has already put things under the level, but I think geo-merging the immovables with the floor is awesome.

+ rep for you for being awesome, even though it's time consuming.

Why is this thread being ignored, grr, it's epic. Advertise it in your Sig. NOW. =D

Done. Thanks for the replies. It isn't all that time consuming once you get used to it.

This is amazing. I m going to geomerge some warthogs into the ground so that the turrets cant be moved. You sir, are my hero for today.

does this mean they also cannot be moved? for example if u throw a grenade by a merged crate will it start lagging real bad and disapeer?
you should put a map in your file share that just shows examples of what can be done and so people can look at it and get a feel of what it would be like, just an idea

I posted a map link earlier. It was kind of small, I'll make it larger. It may jump around a bit, but it cannot be moved by a grenade or player/vehicle. Placing a weapon holder/teleporter node on top of it would fix the jumpy issue. However, the wire spool is the only object that seems to do that. So its no big deal.
It won't lag, no. It may disapear, but if you set the crate to instant spawn that should fix that.

What? I didn't know this technique was already discovered? Link me.

Also for GoatNuts, here's the link in case you missed it in the original post. MAP: LINK

so your saying dumpsters or crates dont jump around, because that was really the main that i hade wanted to know

edit: hoff the name is goatnuts not goalnuts and the grav lift part would probably on of the more useful ones

As far as I've seen, no they won't jump around.

EDIT: Sorry for the name mix up, I'm tired.

I see. Well I don't think I was stealing your idea. Seeing as what I found and posted is different than what you did. I made a tutorial on geomerging movable objects. It just so happens that it is using a similar method that you used earlier. So don't be upset. What you posted and what I posted are similar, but it is not my attempt at stealing your ideas.

It was an idea at the time, and Hoff cant you merge weapons in the ground too?

Every time I tried they fell through the ground. I've done it with weapon holders though. You can make the weapons float using them.

Ahh so I guess my method is kinda useful lol, I just force the weapon into the ground than half of it land's onto the wall that is underground.

This is a cool technique and offers new forging capabilites. However, I have seen this before but Im pretty it is fairly new. Also the technique that you used is different from the one I've seen and it is much better/reliable. I congradulate you on your discovery!

This is great i clicked on it and thought it was just a way to geo merge with doors more effectivly but i have a half finished map and don't worry this will be used thanks a lot now they will have to make a brand new forging 101 video yay

Also you have the best described post of all the other people that say oo this was my idea you stole it well to bad hoff did it so good yours looks like it sucks
hopefully my map will be one of the first to feature this kinda geomerging
