Welcome to Forge Hubs third SOTW, bought to you by your beloved Mallet. For the clueless among us, Sig Of The Week is a weekly competition in which members submit their best signature and the community vote which is the best. Congratulations to the winner of last weeks SOTW, Phast Phood. Your signature will now be displayed in the banner above for the following weeks. Check the Winners Gallery to see the winning sigs from previous weeks. This is how the contest works: Each week you will have between Monday and Thursday to submit your signature. These will then be put onto a public voting poll between Friday and Sunday. The winner will then be announced on the following Monday. Each week there will be a theme signatures must follow; these will also be announced on Mondays. If a signature does not meet the theme it won't appear on the voting thread, so pay attention. So what are the prizes? Well, not a lot lol. The winning signature will replace one of the images in the letters of the banner above, you can wear a userbar like the one below, and you may possibly see your work mentioned in some of the front page updates. The most important prize however is the joy of competing with your fellow hubbers and that warm damp feeling of crushing them in victory, I'm sure you'll agree. This weeks theme is: Typography Under a typography theme, text must be the focal of the signature. The focal of a signature is the main point of interest; the part in a sig that grabs your attention most. Typically this is a person or game character, etc. This does not however mean that only text is allowed. Entries may contain stock images or renders if you wish, and you may use any type technique or style as long as the text is the focal point. Since this is a rather technical theme I have provided some examples to guide you. example one by Fcuk'd // example two by Mallet // example three by Saint Jimmy Rules: Signatures must follow all forum rules. This includes those against nudity and pornography. Signatures may not be larger than 500 x 200 pixels. Vertical signatures are allowed and are exempt from the size rule above You may edit or change your entry any time before the deadline. Once the voting thread is posted however, you are stuck with it. Use this thread to discuss the SOTW and post your entries. If you do not wish to reveal your signature to the public before voting you can PM me your entry. This competition is for you, the community, so feel free to make any suggestions for the following weeks. So support FHs efforts to make the site more engaging and get making sum leet gfx doodz
Well, seeing how I'm only decent at Photoshop and this could get hard, I'm out of it, but I'll be looking forward to the sigs that get entered.
since im so hyped about the new dark knight movie i decided to try and link all the actors and some of the characters. its dark and joker-tastic!
I thought I'd chuck something into the comp this week, seeing how this is a pretty simple theme =] I couldn't be bothered spending hours trying to make something uber cool, so I just made this, like, 15-20 minute sig =]
Ima so gonna enter this week, cause I love typography. I dont know what to make yet, but I will. And TD, yours is amazing. (editedit) Heres my attempt. Its probaly a bit different, but oh well. I just did it for fun. Im never satisfied with my sigs. Or I could do this one.... Of course my vote obviously going to Fcuk'd because I less then three CMYK.
This reminds me of a project I had in my graphic design class. We had three elements: a symbol, some text, and some display text and we had to create three different designs using these three elements, but making one a different element the focal point of the design. One design for type, one for symbol and one for display. I don't plan on entering this contest, just thought I'd share.
Just made something quick and simple. Didn't really turn out how I planned, but whatever. There are some really nice entries this week.
