    My latest c
    reation, Crescent, is a small asymmetrical map, designed for 2-6 player carnage. It combines different elevations, with unique cover for intense gameplay (or at least i hope it does =P). It also includes my first attempt at implementing a switch, it is a simple one, but it work.

    The Layout: The layout revolves around 2 main rooms, connected by hallways and a large archway. the largest room has three columns running down the centre, in the central column lays the active camo, which is surrounded by window panels. At one end is a curved alcove-like area, where a fuel rod cannon will spawn after 120 seconds, on the closest column to this area is the flag spawn/return point for the attackers in flag games. From here, there are two ways you can get into the second room, or "switch room". One is to go through the tunnel, which opens out into the room and also continues on around the corner to the base of the ramp. And the second is to go through the main "archway" situated at the opposite end of the big room to the attackers spawns. this is the main point of entry because of it's size, on the box beneath the arch is where the pair of spikers spawn, and nearby is a pair of plasma grenades.
    In the small room (or switch room) there is a large wall, with a ramp coming out of it at one end. Interlocked with the ramp is a mancannon, which propels you up onto some raised platforms that are coming out of the main wall. this is where the defenders flag is situated, and also where you activate the switch. in the centre of that room is the needler spawn, and the main starting spawns for the defenders. that is a very basic outline of the layout, i have only included major strutures in it though.

    The Switch:
    The switch is very simple compared to most switches, but since it's my first ever switch it was always going to be quite simple.

    What it does: the switch simply throws a beam rifle (which initially spawns on the roof) on to an easily accessable weapon holder (told you it was simple)

    how to activate it:

    1. check to see if the beam rifle has spawned (spawns every 120 seconds)

    2. pick up the custom power-up situated on the raised platforms nearby

    3. wait for fusion coils to do their work, it will eventually destroy a grav lift inside the box just above the beam rifle. this will release the rifle.

    4. the beam rifle should* fly onto the nearby weapon holder, which will catch it so that you may pick it up.

    *the switch has been known to fail slightly, but only to the point that the rifle lands a couple of feet away from the weapon holder, but it is rare, and in gameplay you will not notice.

    1x Beam Rifle
    2x Covenant Carbines
    1x Fuel Rod Gun

    Equipment:

    1x Bubble Shield
    1x Power Drain
    1x Active Camo

    Finally: I hope i didn't forget anything, but anyways, thanks to everyone who tested, but especially LIGHTSOUT225 who helped me work out the kinks in the switch, i hope you all enjoy it.

    This layout looks amazing. How long did it take to make? I see alot of great techniques at work here. i am going to DL and check it out.

    well, i can't really get an overview unless i tear down some walls, which kills the feel of the map, but thank you for commenting on my neatness, and to your warthog switch, i say mehh....

    Switches are operated by buttons IRL, but it doesn't matter too much, besides this would be hard to do with the Warthog Switch.

    Not really actually. Have the warthog destroy a fusion coil that respawns above the grav-lift holding the beam rifle up. HOWEVER, you would then be left with consistent explosions through out the rest of the game and it only works once. So yea the way he did it is better.


    Anyway, great looking map. Wish I could have been on to help test it.

    this should get absolutly feutured, like so bad.
    unbelieveble layout and its beautifully built.
    The switch is simple, but how elegant is it that the beam rifle just lands onto the other weapon holder.
    You're a forging master.

    love the switch ivory i really like the pillar in the switch room and the tower with the invisible. good amount of BRs as i like and the fuel rod cannon fits well. i call it a success.

    wow I remember you showing me this. That beam rifle bit is so sweet, and the grav lift under it is very fun with the curved roof.
    The rest of the map looks great

    Sigh.. Yet again ANOTHER nice map from you, I really gotta get hold of some ivory snacks to improve my forging mege.

    PS I hope switches dont become the new interlocking

    "no switches. This map is garbage" lol

    I'm having trouble with finding things wrong with this map.
    It looks great, I love maps that have a Beam Rifle as one of the focus weapons. The forging looks awesome, as always, I will dl now and report back later with my findings. I'm not a huge fan of the fuel rod, it works for some maps, but not all, I guess I'll find out soon.
    Great Map, for now, I'll give it 4/5.

    No Teh Mastar, geo merging will be the next technique to become a must in map making.

    looks like all of those ivory snacks paid off. The rooms look nicely made, like the grav lift(which is nowadays beginning to be used in a lot of maps), the camo spawn is creative and everyone can agree that the Beam rifle switch is simply awesome. And good choice with using Feul Rod instead of rocks, the rocks wouldnt have went well with the overall feelof the map.
    Overall,another must have map from Ivory snake.
