HMGW (human made global warming) isn't real, the scientific evidence isn't there to support it, and in fact there is much more evidence suggesting it is a natural event.

Ill outline facts, statistics, etc. once people have brought up points.

Well, with the facts that are being presented from each side, I think the only decider can be time. It would be better to be on the safe side and reduce carbon emissions.

I remember debating this with you and you would not accept natural warming. Good to see a turn around.

Nitrous are you talking to me of AL?

and Al, there are many benefits to reducing pollutions, however we must be wary about just saying "this reduces emission it is good" for instance ethanol, which is incredibly ineffective, and the food shortages it causes starves millions a year.

The standpoint of "Reducing carbon emission is good" is a dangerous place.

What about the ice cores showing CO2 is at its highest levels ever? According to those graphs the CO2 increase in the past 200 years coincides nicely with human industrialization.

Also, in my opinion, global dimming(also human caused) has been masking global warming's heating effects

Actually those ice cores show that the current CO2 levels are about average over the history of th planet. They are mildly high for the last 600,000 years, however in the 4.5 billion years the Earth has been around there have been much higher CO2 levels, for instance in thCambrian period it was almost 8 times higher.

As far as global dimming goes it is still too soon to say whether it exists, as the climate is VERY unpredictable and there has been no real patten over the last few centuries. Especially since the world should be getting cooler due to global dimming and (except for a once a few decades ago) it hasn't.

You don't always need scientific evidence. Sometimes you just need common sense. Global Warming is real. How can you say that driving billions of vehicles each day isn't affecting our atmosphere and climate? It's just ignorant. All those gases have to go somewhere. Even if Global Warming wasn't real, why would you want to treat your environment that way? Disbelieving in Global Warming is just putting off what is eventually going to smack you right in the face.

Seriosly? Why are you even in this forum?

If you pay attention i I never said that reducing pollution wasn't good. There are many other reasons to reduce our pollution, air quality/health, ecological effects, energy efficiency, etc. However HMGW has created a sort of "hysteria" whereby people are sacrificing the "Human Enviroment^2" for the "Natural Enviroment^3", there needs to be a balance between the two for sure, however our actions must not only be green, but also smart. In fact there is an organization I am oart of called SmartGreen, which deals with that particular issue, but I am not going to delve into that as Nitrous will warn me for advertising....again...

^2 The Enviroment that humans live in, both the infostructure and the economy.

^3 The enviromtn nature lives in, which is generally anywhere outside of the Human Enviroment.

All creatures in the Cambrian were ocean dwelling and the land was mostly desert and badlands. That is a terrible example of CO2 levels effect on land dwelling creatures, such as ourselves.

Haha alright well my point was more tha CO2 had no effect on temperature....but if you don't like Cambrian take Jurassic.

CO2 levels 3 times higher, plants and land-born life flourished.

Just to see how you defend yourself to a regular person that doesn't know much about global warming (not me-but I'm not in the "debate" mood right now). What about the ice caps melting?

Yes it is most likely that its natural the worlds climate has been changing since the world started. And its not pollution because whenever the world heats up a short while after C02 follows meaning that C02 pollution is not the cause of global warming. And my hypothesis based on everything i have seen is that in a year or two the world will start to cool down and eventually we will start complaining about the world being to cold. Yes im 14 but im telling you global warming is not a man-made problem and we should not worry about it but let the world sort its self out which it will.

    haha.

1.) The ice caps regularly melt and refreeze, in fact there have been periods when there were no ice caps at all.

2.) While the eastern half of the Antarctic Ice Shelf is melting (this is the one with the chunk of Rhode Island thats ganna fall off) the western half is growing at enormous rates.

SO there ya go, the changing is natural and it isn't really changing at all. However the media is spoon feeding you the scaremongering becuase it sells.

    See:
EO Newsroom: New Images - Balance of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet
BBC News | SCI/TECH | Ice 'thickens' in West Antarctica
Scientists Detect Thickening Of West Antarctic Ice Sheet

Also some other glaciers are thickening (Baffin islands for example.

I'll find creditable information somewhere, but the human population only commits to %4 of the total greenhouse gases on earth....let me try to find my source I'll edit this post when I do.

The average temperature world-wide was 7 degrees centigrade higher, than today. CO2 has a large effect on temperatures and is a greenhouse gas. Look at Venus for an example of a runaway greenhouse effect.

Is HM Global Warming real? Yes. Significant? No.

nitrous your missing the big picture. If you take the entire graph it shows that CO2 does not have the portrayed affect on temperature. As in th Cambrian era it was 8x what it is not with an improportionality temperature. Not to mention CO2 has historically risen after Temperature.

Whether you want to admit it or not, CO2 is a greenhouse gas.

I want to direct you to a hypothesis known as snowball earth. It is now believed that the earth froze entirely. Average temperatures were expected to be 20 below. However, the earth broke free of the ice's grip on the planet's surface. It did this by volcanism.

When a volcano erupts it emits 40% CO2.

To melt the ice, CO2 levels would have had to have been 350x higher than they are today. Roughly 13% of earths atmosphere.

Today's levels are currently at 0.038% (35% increase since pre-industrial civilization). 700 million years(snowball earth) ago an atmosphere of 13% carbon dioxide melted a perpetually frozen earth. Venus's atmosphere is composed of 96.5% CO2 and it reaches temperatures of 490 degrees centigrade.

HM Global Warming is real. It is not significant.
