I'm guessing there might have been afew threads like this in the past but I haven't seen one. I was just wondering how bungie could make it impossible to steal maps. Here's my idea __________________________ When you place an object, it will permanently be shown as something you've placed. e.g. When you right click on an object it will say "originally placed by many popes." Now i've realised this could be a slight problem in infinite money maps because whoever makes the map has to place one of everything. To get around this you could turn the feature off or leave it editable. post your thoughts, ideas and flaws in my idea.
nice idea. i dont have anything in plan to stop the the map stealers. i guess we are just gunna have to deal with them
There is no stop for it but forgehub has pretty strict disaplines for whoever is the map thief. Nice idea though.
I don't know, but it must stop! I went into mm today for a little break from forge...I saw a few people who stole Matty's Terminal/Reflex, Twosaltednuts's Tunnelrats v1....and many others! I have even caught a few people on my friends list try to steal a few of my older maps! This seems like a good idea, but just look at how many maps out there that could get more downloads if these 5 year olds wouldn't run around stealing maps! I still think bungie needs to do more...maybe perma ban people that are caught stealing maps or at least define more exact rules on this matter.
I don't think there will every be a way stop map thieves, for now just always put "Made by {Insert Name Here}" in the description. That way when they try to remove your name from the description, it changes the date.
Put a feature in your map that no one will know about. Like a hidden teleporter inside a box, or something like that. If you think a map is stolen, just delete the box you know the teleporter is in, and if it's their you'll know it's been stolen.
Ok, spawn a box. Set it to place at start to no, start a new round. Spawn a teleporter and put it in the place where the box should be. Now, you have a teleporter inside a box, and only YOU know it's in there and nobody else. So, if someone steals your map, they wouldn't know where the teleporter is, and you would. That way if you think someone's stealing your map, you can just look for that box, and see if the teleporter is inside it.
Do what Zolton said, but you could place a random grenade somewhere in the level. I doubt they will find it.
Yeah that idea's probably better. It doesn't have to be my way, just hide something in your maps so you know people didn't steal.
Place trademarks. Thats what I've been starting to do in foundry geo merge something so subtly into the ground that even you have a hard time finding it, Block it off so people think that nothings there and Boom, You have a *Chicken Dippah Made this map you ****** stamp on your map
Placing an object and hiding it wouldn't work as well, because you'd still have to find the dirty little bastard, and even then, what if they ALSO hid something in the map? Then you would say "there's a receiver hidden within that box there!" and they'd say "well there's a grenade hidden outside of the map there!" Both of you would be fighting over it, and the only way would be to show people the date of creation/last edited. Not to mention, if some punk steals your map and you never see the kid, he still steals all kinds of rep for making great maps with his friends and you did all the work. I think if Bungie did the "object placed by" thing, then it'd be really great. The only way they could steal it then is by actually replacing every single object in the exact same place. It'd probably be easier just to make their own map.
I prefer to hide things in a blocked off part of the map so i delete the blocking things and i find my item.
I Agree , but put something meaningful there. for example (your current tool of destruction at that time in interlocked inside somethng hidden on the map) theres no way an 8 year old child could find the items , delete them and also prove that he made the map so theres 3 anti cheat proof methods involved + extras (screenshots) with marked dates and such. -YOUR ToD at the date you made the map. -The theif would have to find the weapons which could be very hard. -prove that he made the map first. that seems very cheat proof to me.
you could just make it when people download your maps they are esentially "read-only" files like on a network. you can only play on them not edit them
I always do the following things when making a map: -Place one or more "trademark" objects in almost inaccessible locations (for instance, on Interrobang I teletapped into lift tower and spawned a Firebomb grenade inside the structure) -Save the film(s) of me placing said object(s) -Put my gamertag in the description (as kaya said, for them to get rid of it they have to edit it, which changes the date) -Release my map from 11-12 PM my time, so a "same-day" description changer can't get ahold of it and claim the same date thing Yes, I'm paranoid about having my maps stolen. Yes, it has happened before. Yes, it was Bushido Elite. Yes, I will stop typing now.
yeah, like debo said, I love to post maps at 11:30, so no one can take credit for them. Not my maps are that good, but my bro has had 1v1 creek stolen from him a few times. Also, genocide can stop map stealing
