Ok, to get the whole debate section started with something light-hearted, I'm posing the following question to the Forge Hub community:

If you had to choose between the power to fly or the power to become invisible at will, which would you choose? To clarify, here are some specifics. If you choose flight, you will be able to fly whenever you want, and travel about as fast as a commercial jet airplane. You can only fly with whatever amount of material that you could normally lift. If you chose invisibility, you and whatever you are wearing and holding become invisible. However, if you grab something while invisible, it remains visible until you put it within the folds of your clothing or something.

I'm probably choose flight. It's something that I always thought would be cool to be able to do, and it would make so many things possible. You could join the NBA and make millions, since you could just jump all the way to the hoop. You could save a ton of money on your commute. You could easily rescue kitties from trees. The possibilities are endless.

I have some more to say on the subject, but I want to wait until I hear some answers first. Please provide some reasons behind your choice, and maybe even try to convince other people that your choice is the best. After all, this is a debate.

And please remember to disable your sig before posting.

There is a point to this. A man, I forget his name, once thought this question was an interesting conversation starter, and he used to ask it at parties. He asked hundreds, maybe thousands of people. The things he learned were very interesting.

When he asked people why they chose the one that they did, the answers took on a pattern. The people who chose invisibility all listed reasons that were unlawful or morally questionable: sneak into the girls locker room, steal stuff, etc. Even our own members listed eavesdropping, pranks, and stowing away.

But the reasons given by those who chose flight were different. Many were altruistic or helpful. People thought they could help solve crimes, save people, and generally be a hero.

But we're not done yet. Invisibility grants you the power to remain undetected and hidden. You can see see them but they can't see you, so in a sense you have a power over them that they are not even aware of. But the power of flight will attract attention. People will know who you are, and the power you have will be obvious.

The answer you give also tells you something about yourself. The man found that patterns emerged again. Those who chose invisibility were usually more introverted, or at least preferred to keep a low profile. Those who chose flight were more extroverted, often craving attention and sometimes vain.

Of course, there are exceptions to every rule. But the generalizations he makes are interesting. I heard the whole thing on a CD once, it was kind of a lecture or discussion. I wish I could remember more of what he concluded. It was fascinating.

I think this is a no-brainer, I would most certainly choose flight. I mean if you were invisible you could make a killing as a privet investigator, plus you could sneak into the ladies locker rooms and see if the kinky things you see them do in the movies actually go on in there. But I mean come on, if you could fly you would get more ass than charlie sheen, I mean lets be honest thats the best thing about having any super power. I know you could save the world and everything but we all know the real reason that people want super powers.

▼ edit... all you invisibility guys are missing out, me and furious are flying circles around all of you. ▼

I would choose flight... but the first thing i'd do was fly over some restricted airspace and be shot down/captured so....(white house/area 51)

    GO INVISIBILITY! woo!

I have to choose flight. Invisibility isn't very useful. I couldn't really think of any situations of when I could actually use it. So yeah, flight for sure

Invisibility. You could totally hear the stuff people say about you when you are not around.

that's a tough one. Flight would kick ass.
    Flight
You're watching a kung fu movei with your mate and they say "oh that ****'s fake" you pull out a gravity defying kick and say "I beg to differ"
    Invisibily
Hide in restricted areas. I mean come on, how awesome would that be. You could freak the crap out of a mate, in the middle of the night, go in their room and screw up their stuff.

I think, I'd go with Invisibility because I can already to awesome kicks, they may not defy gravity, but they still work.

Flight with no question. I literally have dreams about flying from time to time, and it makes me feel like I have a greater connection to the world and myself. I'm half ninja anyway, so invisibility is pretty much available to me whenever I want.

    I would go for invisibility.

Considering the rules, you could get the same affect as flying with the invisibility.

Grab your luggage and turn invisible so it too becomes invisible then get onto the plane. Same with buses or any other means of transport.

Takes a little bit more work but considering how much more you can do being invisible, I think it's worth it.

I seen one before that was like this but said, flight, invisibility or stop time.

But between the two I would probably choose flight. Invisibility would be good but I would save so much time and money with flight.

    Yep Waylander, your true.
There's so much possibilities with invisibilty.
Just sneaking into restricted areas alone would be awesome. YOu could see what goes on behind the counter at mcdonalds, lol. Go into a sceptic's house and start dropping their crap on the floor. And of course for sexual purposes, I dont think I need to elaborate on that.

    Definitely invisibility.
The amount of pranks and tricks you could pull on people would last forever.

ya the sad part is that this debate is pointless because we will never be either.

by the way i want invisability, because flying would suck because you would get really famous, and trust me besides ass, it sucks. invisability you could still be yourself...

I would choose Invisibility. If you were invisible you could play pranks and wake people in the night and never be caught.

So no, kovakelslovak, the debate is not pointless.
