Thanks for this thread man, that thing is fun to play with. Going to post some of the guys I make when I get used to it.
here is a tut on how to make floating/asymmetric parts. (Not by me) OK, so here's how you can glitch yourself up an asymmetric creature. First things first, put an arm directly on top of your creature. It should be in the exact center, a single arm. Take off the hand, we don't need it. For the purposes of clarity, the part of your two-jointed arm farthest from the creature (elbow to hand) will be known as the outer limb, the part closer in (shoulder to elbow) will be known as the inner limb. Next, split it at the elbow, so you have a T shape on the top. Mouse over the center of the T shape. See the little yellow circle joint thing? That's where we'll be placing the part. Place the attachment that you want to make asymmetric right on the joint. Then, from a different angle, highlight the central joint ball. It should look like you're only selecting part of it, but I don't know if it has to. Split the joint. If you're lucky, you'll end up with the attachment on a single instance of the joint. If you're unlucky, the part will clone and be on both sides. In that case, undo and try again. If it doesn't work after a couple of times, fiddle around with the location of the part at the joint. You might not have it quite right After you split it, select something else. This is in an attempt to avoid having a hovering part where the joint used to be, although it isn't very effective. If you do end up with a hovering part, just undo (unless you want a hovering part). The glitch seems to result in hovering half the time and asymmetry half the time. As far as I can tell, you can perform this glitch for any parts except hands, limbs and legs. Trying to edit the piece aside from resizing it will result in the game realizing that the part should be like that. Undo still works, if you accidentally mess up something. Note that the asymmetric item is attached to the outer limb, right next to the elbow joint. Moving around the elbow joint is best accomplished by selecting the joint metaball on the side with the asymmetric part. Moving the wrist joint is more easily done with the opposite side. Moving either joint has a chance of detaching the asymmetric object - test with an animation after you move anything, and just undo and retry if it happens to be detached. You can, of course, press control and remove the outer limb to put it elsewhere - the inner limb is at this point unneeded. Hovering parts sometimes are attached to limbs but misplaced (so they move along with the limb), and sometimes are not. Experiment with animations to find out. If you want to switch the asymmetric object's side, switching the entire limb structure is easiest, although you can muck around with the single limb section it's attached to if you like. This, just like anything else, has a risk of detaching. Creatures with asymmetric parts don't have phantom parts to my knowledge - they animate using only one side(for example, check the fidachnid's sneaking animation. Look at the eyes.). Parts ATTACHED to the asymmetric part, however, will be cloned as usual and float in air on the other side, and will move in sync with each other, keeping the same distance. Look at the fins on the Fidachnid Mk II for an example of this. Some examples: Retkaird: Single-claw (got lazy making a fiddler crab thing. http: //img411.imageshack.us/img411/9783/retkairdxt0. png Assymme-T: Asymmetrical... thing http://img263.imageshack. us/img263/258/asymmetge7.png Thraggard: floating jaw (very many parts can be attached to mouths, making them ideal for floatiness. http://img516.imageshack. us/img516/5127/thraggardfb8.png Gestalt: Floating eyes and head: http: //img249.imageshack.us/img249/6010/gestalt1cv6. png Fidachnid: Another single claw. This one is better looking, IMO, though the camera angle is awful. http: //img520.imageshack.us/img520/5433/fidachnidcm6. png Fidachnid Mk II: An example of what happens when you attach a normal symmetric part to an asymmetric one. The technique has potential. http://img508.imageshack. us/img508/8319/fidachnidmkiikb9.png
Looks cool! Downloading now =]. I have a question though. What do you do with the creatures after you create them..? Watch them?
Well right now you can't do anything with them, but in 78 days, you'll be able to import them into spore. http://youtube.com/watch?v=huivlrYjn3I
It's fun to play with. I made a poorly constructed Elite last night, and it begged me to kill it after I breathed life into it. I'm a bad God... By the way, are you aware of all the Spore creatures that are constructed into the form of genitalia and suggestive poses? It's madness!
Check out the 360 controller this dude made in spore. Spore Creature Creator Spawns Xbox 360 Controller | Kotaku Australia And they're sending messages to anyone who makes a "suggestive" creature saying that if they continue they will be banned.
haha, I downloaded full version off of gamestop. Still awaiting my receipt so I can play it... Kinda pissed off at them for not giving it to me immediately P.S. You need the receipt because it contains the CD key, which is required to install it...
OK, so I decided to install it. But where is it?? I can't find it anywhere in my computer. It's as if I had never installed it.....
For some reason it doesn't create a desktop shortcut. copy and paste the following to your explorer bar. C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Sporebin
well I got it working, and I must say a really fun game, I think today I'm going to attempt to recreate an elite. I'm just going to need to find a bunch of pics of them from different angles... I already have an idea.
Well I kinda wanted it to look like an elite w/out armor, you know? But good Idea I think I'll do that thanks! You know when the Arbiter was getting tortured in the beggining of Halo 2? That's kinda what I was going for. So it makes more sense when Spore comes out that I can have them become a great race. And on another note, they are Sanghelli right? that's there real name?
