So I'm working on this new map, the first one I plan to submit to forgehub. I have it planned out and everything but the forging just takes soooooooooo long. Does anyone have any tips on how to stay motivated and how to survive the grueling process lol

My best advice s if you get frustated just take a break do something that intrests you and come back to it. The only other option really is to just be patient *spelling* and take your time on the map.
It's worth it in the end and you will be thankfull that you took your time.

I usually draw up a ton of designs of my maps (in general over 30 detailed drawings), the design is where i feel i truley shine, that and in ideas and gametypes. A mixture of all those three makes me very motivated to get that map done so people can enjoy it. Make sure your ready to make your map: get an idea and develop it, draw up designs and keep improving them until you cant improve any more, then write down EVERYTHING that you want, if you want quickly make a badly made Beta version, and test it for gameplay. You should know when your done, you'll feel totally ready to begin the grueling building progress. I also like to Forge with partners, they help you keep motivated.

Not, everything, that kills all creativity and random ideas that could go into your map. i have NEVER drawn up a single diagram or anything like that, i have thought about architectural stuff, but i have never written it down. i guess it makes it seem too final, i like having the flexibility to throw stuff around and implement new things during the forging process. but that's just me.

I kind of do the same thing MonkeyDeath3730. Or I invite someone into the game and talk to them or get a forging partner to equal out the work. You can apply for one in Tex's thread in the Halo Forge Discussion Board.

I take it in stages and if i want some motivation i download a lot of maps from ForgeHub - Halo 3 Maps (the good and the bad) then play them all picking up tips and ideas.

    How do I stay motivated?
Why, play music and down a 2-liter of coca-cola.

    Always takes the edge off.
