Believe the Hype is definitely not a team of no-names. They might not be one of the better teams, but they are a team of FFA super stars. They also finished top 8 at Meadowlands and beat Ambush. I'm not saying that I am not surprised, but Believe the Hype is not a bunch of randoms. I am not keeping my hopes up for a great remake because of Blackout and the difference in gameplay from H1 to H3 (no fall damage and H1's close range didn't consist of double beatdowns and nade spamming). I worry that since the map is so small, it will turn out to be just that. The reason it worked so well in H1 was because short range combat wasn't a joke. If you don't like the choice of the remake, Bungie is not the people to blame. Just like Blackout, they are listening to the people. Although a Lockout remake wasn't the best for MLG, it was a popular map for casual and competitive players. MLG made a list a while ago of remakes they would like to see the most in H3, and Chillout was the number one choice from the MLG staff. I find it weird that Bungie has picked two asymmetrical maps to remake for MLG when the majority of the maps are small symmetrical arena maps. I imagine it has something to do with the spawn system since the only small arena type map on the circuit is Onslaught, which has pretty bad spawns. Room-based asymmetrical and larger maps are the most successful because of the cover, which is something that MLG maps had very little of because of the fast gameplay that came with open maps. It seems like the spawn system is limiting H3 from having open maps and fast paced games.
Something along the lines of Sanctuary i would have preferred. But seriously, why dont they just make a map from scratch, build it around the MLG stlye. Not take a map and try to shape it for Halo 3.
Exactly. The gameplay is so much different that exact remakes don't work out. Even if Blackout had all the jumps from Lockout and normal texture, it still wouldn't work because the movement is so much different. Spiritual successors are fine like Guardian, but Bungie has proven that exact remakes can't work competitively. They should do a spiritual successor for Midship by creating a map that creates the same gameplay even if it looks different. I hope Chillout has been altered for Halo 3 to work well, but I don't want to expect too much for the disappointment that came with Blackout.
I live in San diego, but i was busy surfing and enjoying the weather instead of sitting indoors watching people play a video game.
didnt it take bungie to show maps 4 months to show the legendary map pack? now its 2 months. this is great because we dont have to wait forever to find out about the maps
I forgot you are actually a Bungie employee and know whats goes on there... ignorance is bliss isn't it? Lol you literally have NO idea how Bungie tests, so don't act like you do. I'm not getting angry, just pointing out the many flaws in your argument.
Especially when this is a remake that is largely wanted among MLG players. They'll most likely be testing MLG type games, so don't doubt Bungie's ability to test their maps, I'm sure they realize their mistakes, they know what they're doing.
Here is a link to a video of cold storage in action. it is bad quality, but you can see a good bit of the map. http://gamevideos.com/swf/gamevideo...L?id=19462&ordinal=1213640352381&adPlay=false
meh, the vid is all over teh interwebz now.. im kinda a celebrity of sorts (lol jk). But I think mostly its just nice to see Halo:CE maps get into matchmaking. Always wondered how they would play. I liked what Bungie did with Tombstone and Desolation. I'm excited.
Bungie didnt do those two maps, certain affinity did but yeah I did enjoy tombstone too. BTW was that you talking throughout that video?
Ah that is correct i forgot about CA makin those. A couple lines in the vid were me, but mostly just people standing around me. And yes, I'm the dumbass who said thats the first teleporter in halo 3 (completely forgetting about Avalanche).
Yeah I was wondering who said the teleporter thing That seems to be brought up whenever someone comments on the video.
I was more of just dumbfounded and in awe of the whole ordeal really. And it COULD be the first immovable tele. It looks pretty big and klunky, but perhaps thats how the forge tele's are on Cold Storage... only time will tell.
