That's actually one piece of very fair feedback, which the latest version has taken steps to resolve.
How? I know how to save them but I have no idea how or where to publish them, also I don't know how to permanently delete them from my prefab list. I've tried searching for prefabs before but the only place I see that might have the option is in the map search page but the file type option is always locked. Is this a PC only feature currently or am I just blind/stupid?
imma be petty because it's almost 7 am and I haven't slept yet. Salty's criticism just sounds like it comes from a place of frustration and I can imagine it's difficult to receive that especially if HE KEEPS WRAPPING IT WITH HIS FEELINGS. Like I get that you can have your own opinions in what elements of map mean what but can we at least establish that pvp multiplayer is a volatile arena that doesn't appreciate a creator's efforts as much as the presentation. I've had bowel movements more engaging than the most well thought out, beautiful maps out there and that's not to say they're not amazing, more like there's this bottleneck when it comes to the success of a map and that's whatever malignant thought fumbles out of someone's brain about what they felt was good about a map. But maybe you're not doing for the clout, maybe you just want to impress your peers. That's fine too, just don't ask me to sniff ass please.
Salvation by @Black Picture and @infiniteforges also is a heaping pile. Some angles and screenshots look phenomenal , but holistically infinite forges did a really poor job. The lighting isn't good, the art is busy and nonsensical, and the mashup of human, banished and 343i runner makes me want to vomit. Who thinks this crap looks good? Just lazy art and lighting.
Why would it be a bad idea? I've changed quite a bit since our last interaction. I remember I was all butt hurt about your assessment on how my map would play because In my head I was 100% convinced it wasn't the optimal way to play it... I don't really mind feedback of that nature so much nowadays if it doesn't make sense to me. I understand that I may be missing something, and I also understand the person giving the feedback may also be missing something so I'd just nod my head and say show me some theater film from some consistent testing sessions to back up your assessments on how the map would function in an established competitive meta. Go ahead and add me Career, it's been too long my guy
not sure. but there are a lot of common light glitches that i've noticed. there's also a texture glitch that can happen if you play a ton of custom games in a row.
How do you make areas (pits, tall ceilings, the back of a mcdonalds etc) fade into pitch black???? Edit: how do you make things look cool in general?????????????? Addendum: figured it out; gotta turn off ALL the lights
????? I have been wondering this too... Are you saying that you have to turn off the sun too, and then you have to like make individualized custom light sources throughout the map? Basically i just want to have a dark pit of fog, and use fog as visual map boundary etc. Also i need a co-forger
for my map penrose i turned off all the sun and ambient light and just popped some point lighs dead center in the map
I genuinely think forge is too buggy for a 2v2 contest to make much sense right now. Especially with 2 months and Christmas in between. If forge was completely stable and there wasn't a major holiday I think it would be fine, but there are so many quirks, bugs, and crashes that cause lots of extra labor to get past to make a good experience. This tweet for example shows this. Color mixing for instance always changes, so if you have a super unique texture color it will be butchured in custom games. https://twitter.com/Mr_Rebs_/status/1611126343877496836?t=UiROJ8qOxo4lFsr5_U865Q&s=19 At the end of the day its 100% up to the contest runners. I just personally feel like forge is in too rough of a state for a 2 month deadline during the holiday season to be reasonable. At the very least, every map should be opened in forge so the judges can get a look at the intended look. Especially if lighting, textures, and colors get changed due to bugs. Forge is incredibly impressive from a coding standpoint, but the fact its this buggy after all the time we had to wait is rather disappointing.

Please let us know what you think as this will help our staff make a more informed decision on the topic. We feel strong about our policy but don’t want to ignore the comments coming in. This poll should also help guide us to build time frames for upcoming contests in the future too. You’re feedback is valuable to us, thanks in advance for sharing Stay calm and forge on
I'm curious if we'll get any big themed updates for the forge. I would love to see not only large Forerunner, Covenant and UNSC updates but also unique pieces for each alien species and their plants and wildlife. Looking beyond that I would also like to see some untraditionally Halo stuff included old Asian castles and Temple structures, Medieval castles and church structures and anything else that might be fun to fight around. Oh and let's not forget a full Flood release with unique object layers and strange creepy and or drippy things to attach to objects. Speaking of drippy things I'm hoping if and when they drop water objects for us in the game that we get to modify the water into all kinds of unique things like swamp, lava and green mystery goop. Going back to my original thought, something like the Ghost in the Shell contest would have been more fun with a themed Forge drop. Whatever happens one thing is certain before they add this kind of stuff they will need to massively improve their organization of the Forges object browser.
