I can't believe we're this far along and still no news of when we should expect to see more on the Campaign and get even a sneak peak at the new Forge Editor. Ya great Multiplayer is looking good, aaaaaand . . .
Got some sauce that you guys are probably extremely hungry for... Just know it is unfinished. The guys channel has 4 videos that show some items from forge. Scaleable primitives!!! Howver the terrain pieces look a bit disappointing, hopefully within the 8 months they have, they can add sculpting. Really digging the rocks though. Lots of previous assets seem to be returning with the ability to color shift as well. I think if we have solid lighting tools, consistent scripting, and water volumes I would say this looks pretty promising. Especially with the budget. End of video 4 shows map options. My main concern is that the terrain will look bad, not having real grass would be a bummer.
Well I missed out on your video but I went out and looked it up and if what I saw is what we're getting then so far I'm not impressed. The forge editor needs to stop being so Forge like and instead be a lot more editor, hopefully it's far ahead of what I saw.
Well the campaign looked a lot better this time around. Still though what's with the Banished red everywhere? It's like when they take a road that's existed for 50+ years just fine and then they go and add a bunch of signage and lines all over the road because they want to make sure that everyone knows the rules as soon as they turn onto it. If you can't figure out this **** before you pull onto a lane you shouldn't be driving in the first place. It's like how 343 really love their red base blue base colors. "We don't want anyone to be confused on CTF", well there's this great little technique called asymmetry, try it, it works wonders and it has the bonus of making the level more interesting.
While I understand the importance of not having too much redundancy or any redundancy in the sandbox, I hope the campaign will meet its full potential sandbox wise. While I'm very pleased with what I saw, I just hope that the weapon sandbox won't hold it back by being too boring. I saw some variants in leaks, I just hope that we have a lot of surprises. I can imagine finding a pelican that's crashed with a CE pistol, not the silly cartoony Halo 5 ce pistol, but a modernized version. Campaign is just a good opportunity to go crazy with the weapons. While the req weapons are completely broken and ridiculous, they are such a goddamn blast to use, and if they took the odd quirks of those weapons and made them true variants with actual differences in model design instead of a wacky paint jobs I think they could make campaign encounters really fun. While I wouldn't want to see The Answer in a multiplayer map, I would LOVE to see that gun prepared and given to you for a massive large scale campaign battle. Also this is kind of a dumb worry, but I really feel like it would be a dumb decision not to have the brute shot in this game. Also a small dream of mine is to see Halo wars variants of vehicles in the campaign, give us some Overkill nonsense please. Make us feel like an absolute beast. Make it truly feel like we are the last resort.
Too bad they won't do that until 5 years into the 10 year plan when they drop the 25-year franchise anniversary DLC mission packs that include one weapon from each prior game: the CE Magnum, the H2 BR, the H3 sniper w/ mint blitz insignia where the marathon logo was, the H4... sticky detonator, the H5 plasma caster, and the Reach 'nade launcher...
Currently working on an invasion map for Halo Reach called Enclosement. It involves a group of spartans vs a team of elites as they battle through and destroy the overthrown UNSC base the covenant hold. For waves 1 and 3, there will be an A team and B team for both spartans and elites where the A teams fight on a different plain than the B teams making the battle seem bigger than it actually is. Wave 2 however has the spartans fight on an untouched ONI project called "the van" as covenant use their vehicular weaponry to attempt short work of this creation.
@TheLunarRaptor I prefer a more trimmed down weapons list in campaign but with fun and unique weapons. For me I don't need Halo Infinite to add a pile of new weapons just a few good and unique ones. I can't help but feel that a few of their more unique weapons were unique for the sake of being unique and not in the good OG Halo kind of way. Still I don't hate the new weapons, I would just prefer some of the more "creative" ones to skip the base campaign and instead find their ways into the Forge. Also I wouldn't mind seeing them and more in a Super Fiesta Campaign skull. What I would really enjoy even if it wasn't to create completely new weapons (though that would be amazing) is a Weaponsmith section. I would like to see the option to do more than just a simple generic global weapons damage adjustment that we currently find in the gametype editor. A place where users can finely tune all of the parameters of a weapons features. Then allow us to import them in to the Forge or if possible right into the campaign. I would also like to be able to upload them as we had with gametypes and prefabs. The point of this is to allow players and communities to adjust weapons to the style of their choosing, whether they're a classic fan community looking to adjust the game to play like the original series or a group trying to play in a stricter military style, or maybe just some mischief makers looking to play with the most unique or flawed weapons possible. I mean who doesn't want a seeker sniper gun with one bullet per clip or a AR that shoots like a M134 Minigun. Just give us all the parameters and let us adjust for ourselves. Also it saves us having to whine to get what we want for our personal games while giving 343 insight into what the community wants.
Update: I've done working on phase 2 so hopefully the map will be finished and released in a few days. some small bugs are still present but can be fixed later after phase 3 is over.
bad news: I'm pretty sure I've hit the object limit on a forge map which really pains me as without removing detail I won't be able to finish phase 3 :/. if there's any way to work around it a quick message would be greatly appreciated.
Ugh infinite forge not coming for at least another six months is heartbreaking. The game is so good… I cannot wait to forge.
I really hope 343 brings back infection by the time forge comes out, and that if there are object / physics budgets, they will be high enough to easily make 12v12 maps. Halo 5 I often had to glitch over the physics budget to properly finish my maps and the object limit made it much harder than necessary to make a proper urban map and that was for 8v8. But most of all I hope they fix the ****ing lighting from Halo 5.
I hope the MCC doesn't stop getting proper updates once the full release of Infinite is out. I would still love to see even a basic Forge editor for Halo 1 and 2 classic. I don't even need blocks just weapons/power ups/spawns/ and teleporters. Some game type stuff would be a nice bonus though. I just did my personal little Amped update to Icebox and Edge so that my typically 3 man crew aren't bored playing the maps. It was kind of fun hearing the difference after I updated Edge. The occasional popping of firearms was replaced with an almost constant barrage of heavy explosives and the sound of a couple Ghosts battling across the slightly more open waterfall side. I didn't think they'd actually work there but the boys seem to like having them. As it's been seen many times over years the editor can really help to transform a map to a groups preferred playstyle. I have so many Amped maps in Halo 3 because we like a faster pace with more destruction.
There'd be no commercial reason, the community with tools can make it happen, but I'd make the **** out of those.
Full 6 months now for campaign co op. They haven't said anything new about forge. Hopefully they release both at the same time.
