I usually try to keep 3 rigs up and running so that we can LAN when we get together. I used to need 4 but I just forced the odd one out to bring their own damn PC. I need two Xbox's for a similar reason but since they are easier to tote I make the odd one or two out bring their own machine if necessary. The problem is that Once upon a time when the money flowed I bought three gaming rigs at once instead of doing the hand me down method (the third PC always sucked), but now years have passed with upgrades few and far in between. At this point further upgrades feel like beating a dead horse and buying new rigs to mostly play Age of Empires, Starcraft, Supreme Commander, UT 99/UT3, and trial new titles, are clearly a waste. I've currently got a One X and a One S but I was thinking of just upgrading both to the Series X this time around. With back and forward compatibility in the Series models I should only need to upgrade one in the future and this way I won't have to worry that I need disk drives if/when necessary. Next time I may just drop it. I feel that. I think of how much I gamed when I was younger and it's crazy that I still managed to get out of the house and chase girls for hours a day. I guess that's where I freed up the time, no more chasing girls. Not that I wouldn't spare the time if it was a realistic option. I wouldn't say that I'm even remotely a heavy gamer but I value it as a hobby and how it's a good time with friends. If I played alone, well, it would cost me a lot less anyway, but I would also not be willing to spend as much on it. I've spent a small fortune on RC cars and planes as well even though I don't get a chance to use them anywhere near as much as I game, but I value the time that I do so it's worth it. Unlike my youth, as an adult I always try keep a small pool of disposable cash, and I use it to get what makes me happy no matter how frivolous. This way I feel no guilt about allowing myself to smile for dumb reasons.
I'm working on finishing an old forgotten WIP. I found it while toying with Forge on my phone (been trying the beta for Game Pass streaming).
Do you mean for Forging on a phone, or in general? If it's for Forging, I don't know. I'm using an ancient Galaxy S5, and it still works pretty good. Keep in mind the phone isn't really processing much, so it doesn't need to be super powerful. All the processing is done in the cloud. Also be aware it's not available on iOS. Apple won't allow xbox game streaming on the app store because they can't personally review all the games on the service.
Congrats on all the H3 submissions. Too bad I was not able to finish mine in time. I always hate short deadlines for contest. Makes it hard for the busy ones to do anything.
I've been wanting a dumbed down app that you could use to start some basic forging from your phone when you're killing time. Well I guess this will work as well. Still it would be nice to have a customized touch interface that would likely work better than a controller, also - you wouldn't actually need to use a controller.
We are all just so torn up that you weren’t able to get it in. By that I mean, I’m glad because that gives the rest of us a chance.
Posted this on the discord too but this is something any of you with a PC should be giving a shot! Chance for official release in season 2, along with cash prizes. https://www.diabotical.com/mappingcontest
I'm not sure if I'll enter because tbh, the FtF contest took the life outta me lol. I am downloading the game right now though and definitely gonna check it out! I'll play around in the editor and who knows, maybe I'll try to enter.
@Zombievillan - HAHAHA. Thanks for the kind words. I hope Genesis does well @Fritzster - I would say the design is pretty close to fleshed out and was roughed out pretty quick. But I never got to doing a NICE forge and making it pretty. DM me your Discord name
Haven't posted in years, but recently started forging again a little. Figured I'd have a crack at recreating that one area in Halo CE (again). Thought I'd share some of my progress, I'm pretty happy with it at the moment.
the structure itself im redo-ing. I own it now, approx. 100 yards away from the greenhouses i grew up in. Dreams come true bitches
Forging a new map without the incentive of the competition is really, really making me feel the pain of H3 Forge. And these dang cranes ruined my symmetry plans!
