Wanted to take the time to make a quick inquiry. First off, this game mode is just pure, awesome fun with a full lobby and 8 teams of 2. There’s something so simple and fun to be had here trying to take down enemy warthogs with random weapons. It also satisfies competive racers with the need for strategy and communication. I really do recommend giving it a try with a bunch of friends. Now for the bad news. This map does have some issues that I don’t have the scripting knowledge to fix. I used 343i’s race scripts for checkpoints and they don’t seem to like teams too much. So I spent literal DAYS trying to get a point system to work on lap finishes. They do for the most part unless multiple teams pass through the lap marker simultaneously. So those last minute miracles are hard to come by :/ The only other issue I’ve noticed after all of my testing is that new players’ checkpoint spawns don’t update. But that may be bacuse it was late in the game and the scripts started to get over stressed or race just doesn’t like supporting teams. All in all it’s a fun, casual, combat racing experience and I hope to see where it goes.
Another quick note: This map and mode supports multiple different customization types and I plan on filling a library of those modes like gungeese, ghost, or time trial races.
I originally made the map a few years back and had one before it that was a sort of trial map. But for some reason halo won’t let me rename it as map 1 unless I save a whole new file and I already have bookmarks sooooo.

The H5 community adapted 'Race Gametype' is not Team or Join-in-Progress friendly. Maybe King of the Hill sequentially, not random like Rocket Race uses. I'd like to see this work. Cool idea.
No? - your abrupt reply is unclear... Let me clarify my comment on your map. * Teams won't work with the common H5 race gametype. * Adapting KotH is just a suggestion, as an option, if scoring Laps/Checkpoints or 'time-in-zone' is your intent. * I would like to see your map when it works, cool idea. Your NO reply must apply to some or all of the above.
I just meant that since race scripts aren’t team friendly then I’m unsure as to how to fix it. They still work about 80% of the time though...
But my intent is to have players earn a lap score when completing a lap and all of the gates just be checkpoints. That way players can focus on either having fast laps or getting kills to earn points to win.
I know how to deal with the join-in-progress part, as I dealt with this myself before. As for the team race...well, I'm going to take 343's race variant apart and see if I can't figure out how to make it team-friendly. This will likely take some time. However, if you want scoring on each checkpoint, I've made that work (though the simultaneous checkpoint passing problem would still persist)
I really appreciate all the help! However I’d keep the lap checkpoints how they are and just make regular checkpoints for respawn locations. So far the only problem I’ve really noticed is how boundaries behave to teams in a vehicle. Not every team members spawn order is updating so you can get weird respawn s if your team vehicle is killed and a new driver is selected.
