A remake of QUAKE's "Evil Playground" (2-6 players). A small map with long pathways promoting linear gameplay and narrow lines of sight. Best supports FFA and 3v3 Team Slayer. MLG settings are recommended for Custom Powerup effects. Weapons: - 4x DMR - 1x Plasma Pistol - 1x Shotgun - 1x Grenade Launcher - 1x Sniper Powerups: - 1x Yellow Custom Screenshots: Video: Special Thanks: Blood Gulch, Confused Flamingo, Hilter, NIBBS, Nooooch, Robo Artist, Salty Koala Bear, Schnitzel, Seven Oh Three, Waldo the Lemon, Xzample and all of my XBL friends that helped me test this map.
Looks pretty solid. I have a strange feeling I've played it before... Most likely during one of my drinking sessions... So I don't really remember much from it. Haha. Guess we've gotta play it again some time.
It's funny, this is one of my least favorite small party maps on Quake, but with the way you rescaled it, it gave the map a much less cluttered feel. I actually enjoyed the FFAs on this, but the center was too dominant for 2v2. (maybe because there's a Grenade Launcher there!) But this is a great example that not every quake map is full of lifts, teleporters, and overly-vertical.
You need better recognition for it. Well once Oli can work it out with the video stuff and all, Im sure it will.. Onto the map. Its really fun to play on, it flows well, and it has a unique atmosphere to it. The red lighting is sort of a risk, but I didnt notice any framerate during gameplay. I look foreward to getting more games on this
I've never seen the original one, but this looks great! The aesthetics look great and the gameplay looks like it would be good too. +1 dl
I got to play on this with Salty a long time ago, using his gametype. I didn't realize this was your map though, let alone a quake remake. Definitely some good forging for porting a quake map.
Nice preview. Love that music, now all we need is strafe and rocket jumping and I would be in nostalgic paradise.
Dude, it sucks you didn't get the gameplay of that sick assist I gave you, but you did get better gameplay. Lol wtf is going on in the video at 1:14 with the blue guy in the background aha. This map really is pretty fun, I bought Quake the other day and started playing some 1v1s with my friend and thought, wow this map looks familiar. Then I started noticing where all these remakes including this one was coming from. Nice job, WARHOLIC, also your friend is a great editor!
I love quake arena layouts and reach was such an amazing game for its time. It's cool to see the Reach and Halo 4 maps that you have posted here. Good job running this site also, I have learned so much about map design from this community. Greatly appreciated.
I loved Reach as well, its a highly underappreciated game in the franchise, mostly because of the mixed reception of armor abilities and loadouts. MLG v7 was a perfect balance for gameplay but that came much later into Reach's life cycle. I can relate to your comment on the community as well. Everything I've learned about level design happened within this community, it was my school and I made a lot of friends along the way. I personally reached out to all of the best forgers asking for them to spend some time with me and review my work. My education on level design is still continuing to this day and I don't think it will end unless I physically stop building things. Glad to see you reaching out into the community here, keep going and I'm sure you'll make great friends and find the knowledge you're looking for
