Face Wrecker 4 submitted a new map: Vanguard - Small forerunner themed 2v2 map. Read more about this map...
Thanks for the feedback, I struggled with the lighting in this map. I thought maybe the blue and red spawn might be a bit too dark. I wanted to do a lot more with this map but the lightmap said otherwise. As far as layout goes, does anything need work? I've never made a 2v2 map before so any feedback in that regard would be appreciated.
Even though some of the maps in the 2v2 playlist are symmetrical, it's generally not advised to design a slayer experience like that. I ran around the map and feel like there's only the Incineration Cannon to really care about when moving about the map. Also, the map is quite flat throughout the whole of the map, so most engagements would feel extremely similar to one another. I like the lower end of the map more than the rest because of the way it encourages pushing forward due to sightlines being constricted. I'll admit that I'm not good with lighting myself, so I can't help you there. If you want some examples of great 2v2 maps to look at, here are a few that you can learn from: Heads Up by SgtSlaphead Storm Peaks by Xandrith Oblivion by MultiLockOn All of these forger/level designers have other works, but these in my opinion are some of the best examples of what a 2v2 map should be. Good luck forging!
Ok thanks for that, Il have a look at those. I see what you mean about it being too flat. I might try and make it a bit bigger and remodel it so its not symmetrical if that's the norm for 2v2.
I feel that I should say that making an asymmetrical map isn't better because it's the norm; it's better because it has greater potential to create an interesting and compelling experience. Obviously, this isn't true for symmetrical game modes, but anything besides CTF and Assault have better gameplay in asymmetrical environments.
One good thing is, spite me no liking 343-runner designs, your Forerunner designs are nice and look on pare with 343's!
Well that's what I was going for so thank you very much, at least I got something right with this map. Cheers.
