Make a prefab of different colors, blocks, materials etc and start spawning that on different canvases in different conditions and fly around it. Like a pillar of all kinds of 16 x 16. Stay away from hard shadows from a single big sun in the sky, you want an even, smooth and visible tower from all sides. At least imo.

Edit: better yet, spawn two layers of your map or any other form of huge blocks, bake lighting, change colors and walk around. It may take an half an hour for all canvases but you have a pretty good idea of what works/looks awful.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I think I am going to be forced into a natural lighting, complemented by static and dynamic lights, situation. FOr fully enclosing the entire structure in blockers it would take far too many large floor pieces, because even though yo ucan enclose it with less, the faux walls just appear much too close and you can't add any fog and stuff to obscure it properly like other maps do...

I will take your suggestion of plopping down a prefab on a few canvases and seeing what I like best. Maybe just getting away form the "one big sun" like yo usaid, will cure some of the flickering. It's either that,k or put a seizure warning in the intro screen :D

Yeah I don't think enclosing it is neccessary. Maybe try overcast on alpine or stormy on tidal first.

But it's also personal preference, so good luck.

lol... stormy... (EDIT: nvm, I tried it again and it blended better... weird.)

(note, lighting cannot bake because all blocks technically have scripts, since they are labeled and later affected by them. So, all lighting will be non-baked, whatever that means.)

EDIT 2: OMG, that's right, Alpine is too frikkin short to allow this...

So I haven't read this conversation at all but if you are concerned with people at the bottom being trapped. Have a teleporter pit at the bottom that takes you to the top.

thanks. Someone mentioned escape from the walls as well. That is the first thing I designed, in fact. The four exterior walls have invis teleporters that make it impossible to leave. No worries there. If you miss the green zone on the bottom to exit legally, same thing happens (get ported to the top again).

It works really well, cuz if yo uare in a battle you have to pay attention to your surroundings or get punished for it, but only mildly.

Resets to the top aren't all that bad either (also happens if you die), because it is easier to descend once more pieces are vacated.

I should be putting finishing touches on it this evening, then it might be posted.

    Thanks,

Suggestions for a better name than "Random Selection", which admittedly sucks?

(will entertain anything that isn't too inappropriate for other audiences)

To be honest I have no idea what Trump's role is in all of this. Odd case, no doubt.

I don't know much if anything about Trump and his involment with the "occult", if there even is any involment in the first place. I wouldn't want to label him guilty by association, but the biggest red flag would be his involment with Jeffery Epstien and the Clinton's.

But again, there isn't a wealth of information on the subject and I'm not really that interested in Trump. The presidental seat is nothing more then a facade of power/leadership anyways so it's not as if it truly matters where his alligences lie.

    @MythicFritz

    • Regular shotty replaces scattershot

    • Roof gets some cover

    • Textured etc. (cannot do lights per budget)

    • Hidden sword now goes a random (between 15-1) N number of floors below the roof at start of each round, hums (and glows! (and spins!!)) and waits for the chance to be found. It's like a little glowing treasure when you find it, which is not guaranteed to happen every round, but often.

Hopefully, Infinite will bring a boost to custom maps on ForgeHub. Provided that there is a good initial selection ranging from Slayer to objective, and action sack to Infection. I am building, and saving up for Infinite's launch. Halo 5 is a write off.

Why did you switch from scatter? Is there a reason you no longer want players suiciding? What I was trying to say earlier was that I would rather a game not make players feel like they have to suicide at all. For me it's not a pleasant situation to find myself in and feels like the game is broken. In a Halo universed game anyway. Another context might be different. It's hard to pull yourself out of Halo when playing Halo.

    Nice

Textures can go a long way.

Most excellent. Of course it glows, spins, and makes noise.

I remember that map. Got to test a while back. I'm not sure everyone in the lobby was closing their eyes to play as intended. Still really cool though. A map made to allow blind people to play halo. Crank up the volume and try it.

Anyone know of anywhere you can get real stats on what is the most requested (in game) maps in the MCC.

I wouldn't mind taking a look at a unbiased list of most to least popular Maps of all time. It's great that someone feels that a particular map is their favorite but if all they requests are other maps I think that speaks louder to what people want.

I really wish we had something like this for community maps as well. I understand it can be a popularity game but that doesn't mean it wouldn give insight into what people are interested in. Again it's great that 50,000 people have a map bookmarked but if people have far less matches on it then a map that only has 1000 bookmarks, is it really a more popular map.

I would like to be able to search community maps by most bookmarked, most played, and most replayed (which would only considers the matches as a percentage of matches per person. IE a map that has 50,000 unique players that average 3 plays per person may be ranked lower than a map that has 100 unique players [as a minimum] that have played an average of 20 matches per person) I would also like to further be able to filter them by a time frame much like Bungie did back in the day on their custom map downloads. That way I can not only see who is the best of all time but also who is currently popular.

Scatter was really chaotic and made it seem like fiesta all the time. Might as well be fiesta. Turns out, no one wants to play anything but fiesta :( But I'll still release two game-modes w/ this

You can still suicide if you want with one of your plasmas or your 1 splinter. (fiesta has fewer nades for cleanup purposes, but one of your two weapons can usually kill you too.)

I hear you on the trapped feeling. I think there will at most just be a little learning curve for people to understand that they need to make a choice. It is very unlikely you will be in a pit very long, but it does happen. I'll see if I can fine-tune that out perhaps (just tweak the piece selections some more). But, players who are trapped on an edge or corner, which is more typical, can always decide to jump off and get t-ported back to the top. It's also not hard to learn how to spot the pits and look at them a little more to see if they are opened anywhere. (skill gap! j/k)

I am also considering a more technical thing of letting each player somehow decide to delete 1 piece as a sort of "ability" they get to consume each round. That would also make searching for the sword a little more interesting and make it more consistent. But that is down the road, if ever.

This was supposed to be a quick, simple project, LOL
