You could try posting in the thread itself, maybe not verbatim what you told me, but who knows? Glad you could at least bring this up, I know my perspective has changed if even a little bit
I was so confused for a moment. I scrolled through like 3 posts to see if I tried to have a pissing contest on who has been here longer.
Readability should absolutely be a factor, but it falls into the category of gameplay, as does interaction. No contest will be ran perfect. By participating, you are accepting the terms that the contest holders have established. The constant second-guessing of the process can be more annoying than a less-than-smoothly ran contest at times.
So long as these guys in charge are still trying to secure jobs at 343 we will continue to use radar.
Or OR Or we can just point out that the judging parameters are bad and should be changed. The whole "just deal with it" mentality is seriously so damaging and off handed.
Slightly on topic, but am I the only one that gets annoyed when casual kids label all core maps as "slayer maps"?
Tis why we give them feedback so they can make their contest better. No reason to accept second best when we could have the best.
Its not damaging. Its a contest funded by someone ran the way they choose. The parameters of a contest have never been this all encompassing foolproof system for determing the objectively best map. Because that system doesnt exist. Because it cant. Its not a big deal, and i feel like if they constantly had to deal with this type of criticism before the contest even started, it would keep people from wanting to hold more contests.
I'd love to have us do objective contests, but we decided to start with slayer. Give it time and we will get them out there.
Youre changing the contest. Thats all. A contest is based on what submission scores best according to its parameters. Changing the parameters doesnt necessarily make it better.
