New little map I whipped together under that 1* hour map challenge Xandrith was talking about. Probably won't get to test it until I either 'borrow' a friend's Xbone or buy a new one. *1 hour 30 minutes
14 doubles later my ass feels like hamburger meat. Sorry @everyone for being unreachable. @forge 1v1 people this is how I usually design, welcome to my world. @Soldat Du Christ you can't forge better than God stop trying @MultiLockOn @Xandrith I can't wait to see your new not halo halo game @S0UL FLAME I love you and appreciate your patience for this whole 4v4 tourney (you too @HeX Reapers and forgers) @Dunco your humor is extra on point, send props to your dealer for me
This is literally the first thing I do, set my reference colors to white, gray, black, eggshell/tan, then have brown and gold somewhere. Takes like 2 minutes.
And even before that I have checked different color schemes, skyboxes, rocks and bushes, materials and overlays with a prefab.
is kinda sad that, as lame as the Halo 5 campaign was, there still haven't been any solid forge maps based on genesis, sanghelios, or meridian.
an overcast mining town - btb with vehicles or a small interior/exterior 2v2 a cavernous grove - a small twisty turny 2v2, 4v4 CTF where you have to travel with mancannons, or btb with aerial vehicles a large temple or forlorn ruins - verticle 2v2 or 4v4 dont feel like looking for better screenshots but you get the idea. i have like 6 maps based on these environments myself, and i've seen less than that from the entire community in the last 2 years. i just think it's bizzare, and it's not even this game. i can count the number of authentic Halo maps going back to Halo 3's art style on one, maybe two hands. I've seen a powerhouse map, one map on The Ark, that installation 04 BTB map, and maybe a handful of obscure Covenant maps, including the odd Sangheli map. I wont even count Forerunner maps because one or two random forerunner structures in the middle of nowhere has been done to death, and it's very rare that it ends up looking for playing unique. I dunno, just feels like there's all this untapped potential for Halo style maps based on Campaign spaces, and I feel bad that I'm sitting on a lot of them. Like, I have 4 Sangheli maps alone that I never posted. I mean, when was the last time there was a solid ODST map? Or something in a Flood facility? I think I've seen three flood maps in the last two years. Are we really in a castle fad or something?
I like the mood in these shots but that's about it. First picture is meh. Am I the only one not blown away by dry ass Sangheilios? ODST is still on my list, I thought there were many already.
I mean it's cool to circle jerk hate Halo 5 but my point is, there is potential there - and just in general - and nobody seems to be touching any of it. Maybe I've just forgotten all the maps I've seen over the years, but it feels like there's so much more that can be made and the same themes keep showing up instead. I mean just on my first 10 pages of maps alone I can see plenty of diverse environments. I wish I had time and patience to finish them all.
Ever since we got depths I've wanted someone to try the underwater ruins you see during the elevator ride in halo 2. All my designs ended up looking like a wet and brown sanctuary
I started making a Seelow (CODWAW) inspired map based on Kiva from Reach. Made all the terrain and basic layout of the map but got bored making the kivas structures and now its just sitting in my fileshare. Was going for a BTB Objectives map with vehicles since H5 is seriously lacking in that department
