Well I said the maps sucked myself like 10 times Ahahaha I remember a few people throwing a fit that a judge would insult the map pool before the contest even ended. I don't think any of them deserved money. It was boring but it was quite literally the only unbreakable map in the contest lol I didn't want it to win but there was a pretty clear difference between it and the 2nd and 3rd place in integrity.
Let's do something better than argue about how who the judges are is apparently more impactful to why people disagree with the results of contests rather than the philosophy of the judging process and the reasons for the outcomes. Memes are better imo. TBH the lack of cohesion between the judges and official post crew made the 1v1 contest feel more like people making fun of the community rather than an actual contest lol. Don't worry Xandy, I'm already getting my steam roller ready.
But that means that you would've done the impossible and let a map out into the real world. Maybe you should relax on your kid's social restrictions.
Honestly a lot of us could make way better maps now with the experience we have now than what is available here. Most of these maps are all maps from 4+ years ago and all our standards have raised since then. The only map that actually looks aesthetically pleasing is Lacuna. Functionally from a glance I'm guessing that Pulse would probably be the most traditionally competitively viable map but it also looks a bit like a rip off of Prisoner. I do remember squally's map Inheritor being fun to play, but id argue that's simply because of how fun ricochet is rather than his actual map geometry. Modern squally I know could do way better. In general now we could all do way better, and having no start date was going to lead to this debate in the first place.
