That's a typo in the quote -- See, I get what you're saying, and again, I'm not arguing for or against that - I'm just presenting the historically relevant lines of argument that have led us to where we are today with regards to the love or fear of God. My point, though, is that this line of argument relies on the assumption that one must fear God, for God has created a world that is limitless and contains evil and perceived unjust suffering - and in that existence of evil from the source that is supposed to be perfectly good, there is a massive problem; that's where the problem was, and what allowed for the death of God in the popular Western conscience. *edit* And so it doesn't matter if there are better atheist arguments that are more airtight out there, that deal more with the specifics of the scripture, this is the argument that has stuck for 300 years, and which is at the root of all the social, sexual, political, and moral revolutions that have taken place since, save perhaps the American one. Fear of Totalitarianism begets Love of Liberty. God today is viewed as Totalitarian and as such, any deviation from what he commands is justified. What does that mean about (the popular modern conception of) liberty? This is not me saying that any of this good - just that this is where we are.
Yeah, I can understand that. I should point out that I think that the fear of God is in part a metaphor for simply learning to fear the right things. That's why I brought it up. As far as actually informing someone of what I believe, the Bible would absolutely have me tell them about the love of God first. The whole of the old testament is really just pointing to Christ, and the new testament is obviously built around his sacrifice.
Hey I don't follow the movie business that closely anymore but I just found out Dune is being filmed again very soon by Denis Villeneuve. A 2 part film and not a remake of David Lynch's movie but a direct adaptation from the novel. I'm reading the book again after 15 years so this made me excited.
I laugh at this hysterically every single time and all you hit me with is a bruh. Time to delete my memes.
Ok time for a real topic to enter the WAYWO.... http://bungie.wikia.com/wiki/A_3_Legged_Goat Who made this work of art?? Hahaha
If you've got the time and Youtube's auto translator isn't too bad for this video, I recommend taking a look! Great depiction on the heavy influence of Dune on the filming industry, of which many don't know of.
Disciplining kids is so dependent upon the individual. I believe this is true from my experience, from listening to others teach about raising children, and other families. Before having kids, which is up to four now, I thought I'd never spank. I was never spanked, my siblings were never spanked. But after having kids I realized that I was never spanked because I never needed it. I have spanked my oldest. It has always been the culmination of discipline with him. He likes to do what he wants to do and do it when he wants to do it. But he is very smart as well so most times I can sit him down and explain why he needs to do what I'm asking him to do. He's also very stubborn so after verbal warnings, taking away privileges, and time outs if he still does not change his behavior then he has been spanked. It worked with him. I've only done it a handful of time and I haven't spanked him in quite a while. It would not work with my second oldest because it would absolutely destroy him. A stern voice pierces his heart. Only time will tell with my third who is now 2 and seems to be a mix of his two older brothers.
No shame. I’m not saying beat kids with weapons for wiping a booger on the wall, but some kids need to be spanked. I’m totally up for the talking to, taking privileges away first but sometimes they don’t learn depending on the issue and circumstances. It’s funy now that my first is 8 I can take halo away from him as a punishment and I’m on a Halo website talking about it. I’m freakin 30 years old, I need a FB or something geez.
I give you guys forgehub gold level material to discuss and you still go back to talking about your spank fetishes
