never been one to pick favorites and write now I am more interested in writing stories and music than game design. What I am probably best at is 1v1/2v2 though. Since that is where most of my experience comes from.
The first thing I would bring up are everyday interactions. To put it simply, human relations thrive when you treat others as if they have free will and inherent value, and you tend to get upset when people DON'T treat you that way. Not only that, but societies thrive utilizing the same ethos. If sociological structures put the needs of the "group" or anything else over the needs of the divine individual, then catastrophe is imminent. We know this and we know it well, through experimentation plus avid historical repetition. So, what do we do with this information? Well, for one, it's more evidence than any determinist has ever been able to overcome as of yet. Not only that, but it basically means that even if you could somehow prove that we don't have free will, that it wouldn't even matter. Let's say for a second that the ultimate argument gets made and now we all believe that free will is an illusion. Okay. Now what? Do we try AGAIN what has failed so many times in the past? Can we expect our societies to stay afloat if we go and snatch the foundations out from under them? Of course not. What a foolish proposition. Humans act as if we have inherent value and free will, and it works on every level of interaction to the exclusion of everything else that has ever been tried. So, even if we didn't have free will, it wouldn't matter, because the best way forward is to act as if we do. Now I'll touch on destiny. Just know, it's going to be hard to rid myself of my theological presuppositions so I won't even try. For the sake of time. I believe that God (a separate entity from myself) has set out a plan for me, and that I can choose whether or not that plan takes place. I can say yes or no every step of the way by either ignoring my convictions, or responding to them. I can make God's plan real by doing exactly what he lays out in Genesis. I can use truthful speech to bring about habitable order from potential, and it will be good if I use that process. So, I have a destiny, but I can mess it up if I try. As far as a non-metaphysical destiny goes... I think it's verifiably stupid. If all we are is stardust with shoes on, then we ARE the universe. To say the universe is choosing our destiny is to say that we (a part of the universe) are choosing our own destiny, which isn't destiny at all at that point. You have to believe in some sort of outside force for destiny to make any sense. So, it's either God, or a universe that is separate from you and has the same properties as God. It all comes back to the fact that something always had to be. It was either God, or a universe without derivation. Personally, I look at everything and see an undeniable design. Everything serves a purpose. Everything means something. It blows me away that we can decipher the properties of the universe and find things like music theory. An infinite number of songs, emotions, and profound experiences out of a measly 12 notes. It's nothing short of a miracle. Anyways, I had way more written but it was getting off topic. That was long enough.
