I done sketched another map. I was inspired by a picture of a courtyard in Mexico, and the rest of the map came from there. The slightly fainter thick lines are underneath that level (underside of paper). The arrows mark stairs, so that the arrow part is higher up, and the end of the line is lower down. Every square is 16x16 units. Thoughts?
Actually wondering: any uncompleted ideas or concepts? I know plenty of you don't do this much anymore, but I'm looking to get into it more myself, and I know sometimes you get cool ideas but don't follow through.
It looks too minimal and like a grid, id recommend an extra dimension and remove the grid, it really ruins the look.
It's a pretty awesome game but its not for the the kids with short attention spans that need constant pats on the back. EDIT: Tried watching the video you posted after my response...the act man is probably one of the most irritating youtubers I've ever seen, and I've seen @Ascend Hyperion videos
I don't know how so many adventure based games have this issue. How hard is it to give people unique and cool rewards for exploration? Even Fallout 4 has this issue, instead of having cool and unique quest rewards or even cool special guns you can find exploring random places they just have stupid currency and randomized special traits to normal weapons. Exploration means nothing without reward. It's the difference between a world just being an empty shell and it having substance. Currency is a lazy reward in my opinion and it should always come secondary to an item, it should still exist, I just think it is a shallow and boring reward when given by itself. The reason Sea of Theives is bad is not because of the concept, but because of bad rewards that really do nothing for the player or give anything of value. It's really sad how getting a cool treasure chest and bringing it back and having to go through hell to do it doesn't give you a special gun or ship parts, but instead......MONEY!! How exciting! Working hard for a special item feels like a reward, working hard for money in a game often feels like a job.
I like him. He has some great reviews with fair critisism, especially Halo. This is just a short rant I guess.
He seems kind of like a tool...but that is the MO of most of these gimmicky, coattail riding, youtubers
I'm now 1:14 into the video and I have a strong desire to punch the act guy in his uber nerd nose I'm too sleep deprived to even listen to what hes saying but his mannerisms are definitely punchable
