Yeah but companies don't understand long term is a thing, they need to squeeze all the money now, they don't care if it runs the well dry right away and actually makes them less money in the end, they want to make all the money ASAP.

Why would you want a respectable franchise you can profit from and build a massive following for 20+ years like Zelda when you can **** everyone over and make a lot right away. It's not like Halo is the face of Xbox or anything, people will defintiely want Xbox's if we have watered down money hungry "exclusives"

 

Actually they'd be able to milk more money out of people because there would be more demand

Spicy pretty much explained it. It isn't about milking a single product. It is about constantly putting **** out. It is basically what killed the console and arcade gaming industry in the 80's. If they put more time into making a complete game that is good there is a greater chance of them losing money if the game flops. They will do whatever to cut corners because it will get them more money if it sells well and if it doesn't sell well they lose less.

So rather than spending money on improving the quality of the game, they spend it on marketing because it is cheaper and creates hype which has led people into buying many **** games over the past ten years and everybody is suffering from god damn stockholm syndrome because of it.

They will stop doing it this way once it is less profitable to do it like this. Which probably won't happen anytime soon as they have turned every 12 year old boy on the planet into gambling addict.

Also, it is perfectly fine to be that guy.
