Haha, oh did I cross the line by saying gay? Oops.

I forget sometimes how pathetic our country is now with being so damn politically correct. Can’t hurt no feelings.

I remember when I was a kid we called each other gay or ****** all the time to make fun of each other lol. Of course now a days, I wouldn’t deliberately call a gay man a ******. Its like calling a black guy the N word. Am I offensive?

Yes, times change dude. Using "gay" or "******" to make fun of someone presumes that someone who is gay is less than someone who isn't. Whether you like it or not, that's how someone who is gay might feel if they hear you using the words that way.

Like, you have a choice of using words in a way that are offensive to people or not. Why choose to be offensive when there's the option not to be?

    Bundle of sticks

Also let's not get into what words mean. Considering both the words mentioned original use had nothing to do with homosexuality and when people use it to **** on each other they typically mean stupid. There is a reason south park made fun of it in an episode.

Doesn't change his point that people are easily offended nowadays. **** there is a professor in Illinois trying to claim that math is racist. You have teachers in Canada getting in trouble for not card stacking a subject.

Then why not use "stupid" or "dumbass" etc? **** that doesn't single out and reference a certain group. It does seem a bit much to vilify people for using those words that way, but the alternative is just so easy to do it makes no sense to not do it.

You could be offensive as a means to an end, but most edgelords would rather do it for the lulz. Others don't care either way.

The Socratic method gets people to think and gets some lulz. Try that out sometime.

Those groups do not own the meaning of those words nor do their original meanings have anything to do with homosexuality. They are slangs when applied in the context I am using and with homosexuals. Even if the definition has been updated they are updated because of use as a slang. Besides taking offense to words is something that we were taught as children not to do. You know, "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me." If you let what people say have power over you, then you need to go see a psychologist.

Why do people say sick instead of awesome? Sick implies someone has an illness and not that something is a noteworthy positive. Same for nasty. I can guarantee when somebody uses gay or ****** in the context that zombie laid out they do not even think of homosexuals or homosexuality. They mean it in the context that they are using it in.

There are plenty of other examples as well.

My personal philosophy is negative speak, hate speak etc. will only hold people back if they let it affect them. Think of every feel good story that has ever happened involving it. The person achieves what they do because they do not let the words hold them back and instead use it as fuel to make a point. This point isn't just to the oppressor that is always pointed out but the supposed oppressed that being strong is the only way to truly defeat bias.

No person has the right in this country to decide if someone is offended by something or not and others getting offended for a group of people they are probably not involved in is the problem with today's society. Even if they are a part of the group they don't have the right to speak for the individual.

Rant is a rant with probable typos.

I'm stupid and I find this offensive to my people.

Some people have a hard time reprogramming their brains away from habits formed early on. Instead of trying to change it for them, I use their verbiage as an indicator of wisdom or lack there of.

If it doesn't affect you physically, then I'm sorry to say that it really doesn't matter imho.

This reminded me of high school too: I had a bitchin pair of rainbow toe socks, and someone called me a '****in fairy ****** ****'; by the time I realized he was hitting me, I had already been rolling with laughter on the floor for a good 2 minutes at his attempt of the English language.

That's why I said wisdom instead of intelligence. You can be intelligent without being wise and vice versa.

But don't let my words affect you ;)

People rarely understand me, and I'm OK with that. It either means I'm way ahead of the game and people will look back to my words in the future for inspiration, or I'm so far behind that they will use me in the present as an example of what not to be.

There's no reason to assume that a gay person will be offended by someone using the word ****** as a friendly dig. There's also no reason to assume that they're okay with it.

There's no reason to assume that someone who casually used the work ****** has bad intentions.
There's also no reason to assume they have good intentions.

Everyone is free to say what they want.
Everyone else is free to respond in whatever way they want.

Say whatever you want, but don't say it unless you're comfortable and confident in handling any potential response to it.
