They spinnin'! http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/ExTerrestr1al/video/41946085 (visual concept by @Ryouji Gunblade - possible Extraction Beacon replacement)
I personally was kept out of the loop about 1v1 contest results because I was in the contest and made it vary far So even I don't know the results. The people who normally do the articles for the site where all on vacation for the holidays. And when I saw all I MEAN ALL OF THEM. They are wanting to do a video for the contest results also which delayed the result release even more. I am only on staff for being on the streaming team. Holidays where busy and the team wanted to do the 1v1 results a little more justice then just announcing them. Sorry for the Inconvenience.
I assume it means lowering yourself over and over again until man is no longer considered on top... it's the trend of "stop being dominant!", "Stop being male!" "Stop eating meat" , and finally "now go sacrifice yourself for nature's sake!"
I was not particularly meaning just the contest results. I was just speaking I general, that is a common cycle with mods of forums. They get burnt out and hold the position for someone more eager to work within the community.
Also this is random but I really want to start making BTB maps. I've had a few concepts around for a while, and I feel like I would do well in this area; I like macro setpieces with linear progression similar to campaign spaces. Invasion is the reason I Forged in Reach for so long because the maps told their own stories. Hell, BTB is why I even got into Halo multiplayer to begin with. I don't do it in Halo 5 for two reasons though. The first reason is that BTB feels wrong in this game with the abilities and the way the BR works. It's so uncontrollable to me and I just don't enjoy it at all compared to Halo 3 or Reach (which was awful outside of stat whoring). And honestly, even Halo 4 BTB was fun in its own way. (Actually, nevermind, you could spawn with a Plasma Pistol in that game. Let's forget that game existed...) The other reason is that we just don't have enough resources to make really high quality BTB maps. I've seen a lot of cool ideas from Forgers, but very few of these maps manage to pack in the visual fidelity that we saw even back in Halo 3. A lot of the larger objects we have chew up the lightmap, which makes getting a good looking BTB map even more difficult than normal. I honestly think @SaltyKoala is the only person who does it consistently, but he's a dog and never polishes them because fighting with the engine is even more frustrating on that scale. And when the environment is as large as a BTB map, the "simple and clean" look isn't really endearing anymore; you need detail. It is possible, but there is a lingering ideology surrounding BTB that suggests the maps have to be insanely large vehicle playgrounds with copious amounts of dead space. Not only does this play tremendously poorly in this game to me with the hitscan weaponry and unpredictable movement, but it also makes the idea of wading through BTB lobbies to test maps with this "Warzone philosophy" less enjoyable overall. Like, less is almost always more, and historically the best BTB maps have been rather concise and controlled. We need 1 flag back is all I'll say.
