Yo I really appreciate everyone being able to have intelligent conversations about stuff like this. I stopped going on Facebook because every debate like this just turned into a flame war. Inb4 this conversation turns into a flame war.
Of course, forgehub is home to some of the world's most influential philosophers and intellectuals, I thought everyone knew
You really do have to stay far away from popular social media outlets like facebook or twitter if you want to hold an intellectual conversation on controversial topics, luckily this place has some reasonable people who are capable of conversing in an intelligent manner.
Why is happiness good. Seriously, can you explain to me why someone being happy is undeniably, objectively, morally right. Or rather why causing sadness is wrong? It's at this point that words usually fail to actually provide a reasoning or explanation as to why happiness is good, or can be considered good. Because at the end of it all I could look you in the eyes as an atheist and say "pain is good" and there's really no repose to that. Which is why morality (and the debate of) is probably one of the few ACTUAL hard topics that have reached a conclusion in the philosophical world. Plenty of things are still up for debate but the topic of right and wrong, good and evil, pretty much boils down to - if you believe in a God you have a foundation for good and evil. You can look at something like murder or rape and say "yes, that is objectively undeniably wrong" (assuming the God you believe in has said as much). If you don't believe in God, what follows is that you believe in subjective morality, or rather the lack of any true morality. It's all just in our head. Which makes sense, if I were to convert to atheism tomorrow I would be a nihilist because that's a logical conclusion. In the world of apologetics atheists will RARELY even try and debate on this front anymore because it's a lost cause. In fact at the end of debates each side usually respects their candidate and thinks of them as the victor but the few ACTUAL decisive debates I've seen were all on morality. Between William Lain Craig and Christopher Hitchens I believe. There's another good debate with Dawkins as well. I remember after those debates when hearing other very prominent atheists talk about Hitchens / Dawkins afterwards like "Yeah they ****ed up, that's a lost cause". I could link the debates if you'd like.
Christmas time always fills me with the purest joy, It's unexplainable. I looked out the window today and saw all the snow, and I almost fell down ahahah I'm either insane or just that happy to be alive Merry Christmas eve forgehub also, the word "forgehub" doesn't sound right to use in the way I just did, because I think of it like a verb ever since goat and salty called adding detail forgehub. Like "this needs some forgehub" is something they would say about a blockout ANYWAYS drink eggnog
One of my beliefs of God, and the reason I refuse to rely on him, is that he is indeed a 'master programmer'; he is so much so that there is a world where we can exist without him. Every choice I make sets me down a parallel of time where the universe continues to exist. There are no 'right' or 'wrong' choices, only 'is' or 'isn'ts'. If something couldn't exist, it wouldn't as there would be no 'program' to run. That being said, I am #teamGod for my own hopeful purposes
How about using an alternative name for forgehub users as a whole? Something like: "what's going on chubbers..." or "hello chubbies..."
how about we address every forge critic as "your highness" and everyone else as "pagan" yeah that sounds good, pagan
If there was ever something i would like to claim credit for in my time forging, it is this use of the term forgehub. It stems from the days where the MLG forge forum was still thriving, and we saw the Forgehub community as a more casual, aesthetically-driven portion of the community. Naturally, i started to call anything visually appealing “forgehub”. Kind of crazy how long ago it was, and that people still use it. I also used to say “reminds me of Onslaught” because in the days of Foundry, many non-forgers would say every Foundry map looked like Onslaught, since it was the only Foundry map they knew.
Ya know, I believed this so strongly at one point. Then I witnessed 2 year olds filled with pure joy at killing small creatures, and laughing hysterically after smacking another child in the face and making them cry. I'm not so sure anymore.
I'll leave you guys to this and won't elaborate much for sake of time this christmas eve but i just want to point out that, if I'm not mistaken, none of you have connected basic human rights into your discussion of morality. Its important to note that our advanced intellectual capacity has allowed us to create a fundamental system of basic human rights from which morality stems. Id say it should be a core aspect of any discussion of morality. Especially considering how enforcement of these rights directly ties into how civilization and society has progressed on the moral plane. Regardless I'm pretty sure sjw's are our new dictators of morality. Lol Btw the results for the 1v1 comp have been in the staff's hands for weeks now. Can't believe they didn't get them to you guys before christmas.
