There is no "gametype" for the key. It is built into the map. You play regular old slayer.
If anything, the key is the most balanced pickup Halo has ever seen, because it doesn't put you at a combat disadvantage.
Think about this.
Guy comes around a corner with OS, he's prob gonna win.
Guy comes around corner with DB, he's prob gonna win.
Guy comes around the corner with Camo, he's prob gonna win.

Now what happens when a guy comes through a door that you know is there? Nothing. You two are on the exact same playing field. He has no combat advantage. It's the same as if he just came around a different corner than you expected. That's it. And since they HAVE to use these doors, they are super predictable, and can be punished accordingly. Honestly, I can't imagine a more balanced map pickup that feels important to the game.

 

Wait were y'all really arguing about whether the key was a power up or everyone else was nerfed.

A Power up that is designed to give you a type of advantage will make you feel more powerful. No ****

I can understand the sentiment at least. Halo 5 makes you feel weak as hell with the pistol. Having any good power up will make the regular player feel weak

That's one step that got skipped entirely. I was planning on messing with textures but I just wanted to play another key map.

I'm forcing myself to build all of the final geometry with textures and overlays in mind on the first pass. Same with lighting. That way, when the map is built the map is built. Also it's WAY more fun to experiment with object usage and lighting than it is "arting" a blockout. Blockouts also never really feel that cool to be in, because if you don't design with the theme in mind the geometry won't reflect that. It will always feel like minecraft no matter how hard weedcough goes
