Thanks for the input.. Did you not see the pathing on the edges? That is one way I will counter the mid-heavy gameplay... I definitely hear what you're saying about adding a lot of detail to each of the areas for, for trick jumps etc. I want this to be jam-packed with lots of micro for sure. Performance-wise, I think I'll be able to go high budget on this because looking toward the center will never reveal the whole map, so few framerate issues.
Wait so Halo sucks, Destiny sucks and CoD also sucks? If RDR2 sucks too I'm going to cry. Nah who am I kidding, Rockstar delivers. I hope...
Imagine an indestructible engine that only develops 78 horsepower in a beautifully designed car with an infinitely reductible 'infinity'-speed gearbox - you want the car cuz its sexy, but the only 2 ways to make it drivable are to: -hook up a turbocharger to it to take advantage of that transmission and body, and hope that the engine can actually generate enough HOT AIR (read: "hype") to get the turbine going in the first place -swap/rebuild the engine to something reasonable that can be appreciated for what it is Say you put on a turbocharger - you must use the exhaust gases to turn the turbine, which is a theoretically INFINITE POWER SPIRAL, assuming you can ram that much air into it, and there being infinite air in the universe, and that the pipes won't melt or burst because of so much HOT AIR.... Of course, like an average woman wearing too much makeup to compensate for her lack of supermodel sexiness in the low lighting at the club, you will 'hit the wall' - there is not enough air, there isn't enough room in the air intake, the exhaust piping can only handle so much HOT AIR pressure, etc... the system will fail. However, if you bite the bullet and throw in a really sexy LS swap, or one of those 2jz's and upgrade your intercooler, maybe you'll have something going there, something that can generate enough torque on it's own to get moving, and continue moving forward at a reasonable and safe pace. The fundamental problem being that the engine itself, the woman's beauty, whatever, is not enough to support that system and generate the power, the attraction, on its own. It's responsibility avoidance, neuroticism on a technical/business level, and speaks volumes about the kind of people that are in charge of these projects, plans, and products. Everything sucks because of this trend. Its like Reddit. You want it to be good but the only way to make it good is to hook it up to a life support system, can't be good on its own. For Reddit its the apps and extensions For Halo its Forge and Customs (a stretch at times) For CoD its the market oversaturation For Destiny it's basically the same, just nerfed to all **** to make it 'fun'
All I got was: Everything sucks because of this trend. For Reddit its the apps and extensions For Halo its Forge and Customs (a stretch at times) For CoD its the market oversaturation For Destiny it's basically the same, just nerfed to all **** to make it 'fun' The rest was all - uuuuuuuuhhh - Whatever you're smoking must be good.
all i know is I like my turbo lag does suck though. technology is getting better to reduce it though... there's a team of tuners in my area who have almost totally eliminated turbo-lag. But, I did understand it was an analogy, not necessarily about forced induction vs natural aspiration...
I hate the sound of SC's... I've seen some designs that use both, though, and that makese a lot of sense actually. one that's belt driven, and one that's vacuum driven. Best of both worlds. Plus I don't think Japanese cars ever use SC's, but I could be wrong. Here's a pic I found:
they don't typically, but its a much smoother powerband. the sound.. yeah, I mean I guess you could take it or leave it, but its quite distinctive on smaller engines, and reminds me of a harmonizing melody. My '99Kompressor sounds particularly devilish (kinda like a tri-tone or diminished interval harmony) in garages, tunnels, whatever, and it makes great power down low. Top end.. ehh, it's kinda diluted in the 6s and 7s, but by that point its already shifting back down into the meatier section.
right, a dual system is best for powerband... but alas, it's all going electric where we'll all have 100% of torque and power for the whole band, so... It's weird. A few years before everyone was talking about electric, there's this Evo transmission expert in Michigan who just ranted and raved about elec tech, claiming it would be the future... you'd think that type of guy would lament it replacing his beloved machines, but he was actually looking forward to it.
well, he should be happy, the new Evo concept is an e-hybrid crossover *edit* turns out a couple Toyotas have SCs, the MR2 and the Scion sc both had supercharged variants. but yeah, exceptionally rare.. *edit 2* what really gets me is that so many cars that are electric/hybrids.. they don't really engage the driver in mundane situations, they're all being built for track days - if they aren't being built for track days then they're being built to be driven in. Having driven so many new cars in the last couple years, there's a massive barrier between the driver and the machine, even in the cheaper, fun little shitboxes.
Christ, I mean, even parking brakes are now electric, how the hell are you supposed to pull virtuous skids with a window switch?
I saw it. I just think it's not going to alleviate the issue enough (unless I'm totally misjudging the overall size of the map). I was thinking of something that totally bypasses the middle of the map, like this: Either that, or a teleporter system that allows people to bypass the middle of the map. I personally like the idea of forcing players to middle in one section of the map, but giving alternatives in the other two areas. You could even design these connections so that they're one way movement options. That's a good way of assuring it doesn't just turn into a donut.
I was also thinking of connecting from the outside, but I didn't want to just make a cheap air-vent system to crawl through. I'll have to think of a good way to make it so people aren't just sneaking around those spots... Blockout by end of the weekend, perhaps?
also had that thought, but it might be easier to make the outside decor look like it is spinning, giving the central area the feeling of spin.... we'll see.
Working on building a temporary Home Theater wall. I would love a little help if you've got some advice. Here's a link to the newly created thread
Thanks Papa Forge! I'll do my best to use this information on my own first. I should be able to find out what areas you're talking about (or I'm a lot further behind in my progression than I want to be lol). Regardless, thanks for taking the time to drop feedback (and much more thanks for recognizing me progressing (no matter how slowly ))
