No, it's no pretentious. I know what I'm doing when it comes to level design, and I know boring **** when I see it. There is a big difference between confidence and arrogance, and even though I know for a fact you will try to conflate the two while ignoring my points, I feel the need to say it anyways. I'm tired of treading water. I found both of your maps boring and uninspired, and I especially disliked hubris because any "design" boiled down to sitting in one spot and watching the sender. Listen, I know I'm not the best, but I'll be damned if someone as ****ing juvenile in both design sense and personality as you tries to "challenge" me and my ability. You're a ****ing joke. Maybe I haven't actually learned my lesson, but I'm tired of getting "roasted" by people who obviously have no clue what they are talking about and CONSTANTLY contradict themselves with some of the dumbest sentences I've ever read in my entire life. In my estimation, an attempt to prove anything to you is a massive waste of time. I'm done now. The end. Have a good Halloween.
Ice cream cone The rule was that it couldn't be posted. I don't really care how old the map is so long as it wasn't ever published. Third Gear fell under that definition.
So, no. You will not make a 1v1 map to display that you “know what you’re doing when it comes to level design”. I expected as much.
I've been working on a 4v4 map and a 1v1 map for a little while so hopefully I can provide something of substance in the coming months. Kingdom Come / Kingdom Gone are their naming conventions. The 1v1 is a key map, the 4v4 is standard.
I look forward to the criticism of Sulfur. Knowing who the judges were going into the contest, I devoted most of my time to testing the blockout as opposed to visuals. I tested a lot, with friends and randoms alike, and I really enjoy playing on it. But I guess no one was trolly enough to find the flaw of the upper hallway, myself included. Guess I just have a hard time taking my mindset there. @Sethiroth made a suggestion in a stream for a fix that I might implement. Should anyone want help with fixing spawn weights on their map after the results are posted let me know and I’d be glad to share what I know!
How do you accidentally delete Warthogs? And which is it, did you just mean to give it cameras or did you mean to delete the warthogs. How did you even know I was talking about the warthogs because I never mentioned it here, so you obviously knew. And I didn't even livestream the games this morning when I saw the changes. If you wanted to progress the map you should've saved as a new map from the menu's where it wouldn't have affected the last modified date of our bookmark. It's not that hard man. Here's the thing, I believe you. The changes you made were small enough that nothing even really was changed. And if you did happen to change a few small things like spawning, some clipping, weapon ammo, minor details that would be hard to notice...well, it still doesn't affect the way the map generally plays. You had nothing to worry about, because if the changes are small enough not to notice then they weren't a big deal in the first place. If they were big changes like changing geometry then I would've noticed it, but it wasn't. You should've just left it as is and if there was really something that needed to be touched on the judges could've handled it themselves for the time being.
@xdemption - The judges where not saving copys of the map. So the deadline is a hard deadline. No modification at all after that date. @MythicFritz - I remeber doing a few changes to your map...I just dont remember you being in stream lol. There where two spots i touched on if i remember correctly.
could I ask the judges for forgiveness? just this once? after this there won't be any modification. like I said, I only meant to add cameras.
Lol. Do you have a copy of the map file where the "Last Modified" date reads the day of the contest deadline? If so, bookmark it. And don't touch it. If not, then your map will still continue to be played and place however the judges see fit. You just won't be eligible for monetary prizes, so if you do place top 3 the prize money will go to the next eligible map. Honestly - if I were judging this based on my own merits, I wouldn't care. I believe you didn't really mess with the map in a serious way, you deleted some warthogs that were sitting in the corner. And even if you did, it was done in a way that was minor enough that wouldn't even impact my thoughts on it. I've already played 25ish games on Third Gear and I know what to expect from it so anything from this point wouldn't change it's placing. That being said, from the perspective of literally anyone reading this conversation they're going to want you disqualified. Normally I'd say **** them and continue to do whatever it is that I want to do (which in this case would be continuing on with Third Gear as if nothing happened because truthfully...it's really not a big deal) but I'm going to cave this time. I'm pretty sure the community would be collectively butthurt if we didn't DQ that from prizing, and I haven't even talked to the other judges yet to get their take. But my initial statement would be that you just won't receive any money if it places. The last thing I want is a year or two from now some dumbass in the waywo going "herp derp but Multi was a bad judge he wouldn't even disqualify maps that were changed". Don't really want to have that conversation.
