Before I took my break from level design to work on my story telling skills. I would spend roughly a month or so just thinking about a design before I even decided if I wanted to forge it or if it was possible. Sure some ideas come easier and I can whip out designs fast but most of my projects I take personally take me forever to get to the sketching stage. My current 1v1 is actually one of my first freestyles where I have been designing as I go. It has been pretty enjoyable.
I wish it had ended 3 weeks ago, I wouldn't have to juggle school, exercise, work, "charitable endeavors", kids, and design... That being said.. thank god for the extension
I finally finished Afterhours. Man that was a pain. Wish I got more time to work on the map but hey cant always get what you want. Here is a link for anyone that cares https://www.forgehub.com/maps/afterhours.5770/
Sneak peek of changes coming to 'City on the Edge of Forever', or 'Ridge of Eternity' - greek acropolis at center, teleporting 'gateway to eternity' at right - does it look like a donut? yes! does it play like one? I don't care anymore (jk I do care, the gameplay is good for magnums, lots of space to move around and duel, with the new acropolis and the changed teleporter location + raised crags on the edges there will always be a way for players to find a leg up on the other player, even if sometimes it can be rather shallow) Plus a special surprise (not pictured) courtesy of @ExTerrestr1al
Wont be finishing a 1v1 map unfortunately. Been trying to put in time for a 2v2 map that will have a custom pickup kinda like Arcanum. Also this is not final its going to look way better I pinky promise.
Not enough. it is never enough. Secret to being a good cook is using whole sticks of butter in everything.
Just so ya'll know, there are 4 slots left open for maps on tonight's Thursday 13. https://www.forgehub.com/threads/the-thursday-thirteen-map-testing-lobby.153319/
nope, 100% fantasy I've been reading this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Way_of_Kings and I am so inspired. I've only read 100 pages and I could make 3 maps out of it
I just finished the mistborn trilogy like a week ago. They were good books, I plan on finishing more of brandons books since he has a ton of them from the same universe but i have another series I wanted to put in the middle. I was going to start with the way of kings next. There's a decent amount of influence for maps in the books. The steel ministry architecture intrigued me a lot. Everything simple metal with only subtle lines. Kinda reminded me of bungie forerunner. The Inheritance cycle by Paolini still takes the cake though. Ellesmera and Tronjheim would be fantastic inspiration for forge maps.
