Scripted lifts v normal lifts

    hi everyone, I'm close to submitting my 1v1 map but I'm stuck on one fairly important gameplay issue. I have scripted lifts up to top mid on either side of the bottom of my map. I'm just wondering, in terms of gameplay, is a regular lift better? I think a regular lift could both hinder and help an aggressor in a gun fight. The scripted lift means that someone running away from conflict has to wait a couple of seconds if they've missed the lift and then they're trapped and cant easily escape a conflict, so a regular lift may allow someone running away to get away more easily and therefore hinder an aggressor and slow gameplay. On the other hand, an aggressive player may want to use the lift to push someone who's holding a higher position on the map and therefore a more instantaneous lift would be advantageous.

    I'd be really grateful for people's thoughts on this.

    I know some people find it a bit frustrating to wait for a lift, even if it's only a couple of seconds.

    A little extra context - my map also has teleporters on the lower level which can allow people to evade conflict if they're on the run, so I'm not sure if I want to limit this effect and keep the timed lifts instead.

    I suppose the answer here is probably subjective, but what I'd love to know what people think about this.

    If you want scripted lifts, you can make a zone trigger it, so there would be no waiting. Player steps on it, it moves. Otherwise, it doesn't.

    Nice! I didn't think of that. I think that's definitely something I will incorporate before I submit the map.

    At this rate I'll have to give you credit as a co-forger XD

    If you don't mind me checking it out, I am good with scripts and can help you out. (I don't need to be a co-forger either if I help with scripts) That's what iForge is about tho, we will help anyone with anything in Forge if we can!

    s'all good! To be fair man I'm in the UK, it's 4 in the morning here so I can't really get on now, I'm just getting my head down to go to sleep after staying up stupidly late haha. Do you think there'd be a better time before the deadline that we can go both go into the map?

    Oh, no worries. I didn't know you're that far away haha I'm in Canada. Maybe at 8 am tomorrow my time which is about 2 or 3 pm for you. (I think lol) If that works, it's a good time for me.

    Sorry man! I was asleep by that time and I've been busy today. Hmm I'm just wondering the best way of doing this. I feel bad having you go out of your way early in the morning. I'd much prefer to come into the map with you though, at least cos it'd be really impersonal if I didn't and you're helping me out. But if the time difference is too awkward, maybe I could make the basis for the lift (small ramps etc) and you could make it as a prefab that I can bookmark from your files and then put that in the map. Could that work?
