No matter how faint the pulse, so long as there is one, life still ebbs throughout. Give it time and the masses will come flocking back.
Not talking about any particular Halo title compared to another, just ForgeHub alone. That is what you were talking about, right?
Comparing site activity only, it's currently probably almost on par with the late stages of Reach. Compared to the late stages of H4, this place is extremely active. During the same time period for H4, there were rarely 10 or more members online, or more than 20 posts in a week. There was a pretty long stretch of time where the number of front page articles I submitted was probably more than the number of posts on the rest of the site combined, lol. So it's all relative. It's dead compared to what it was a year ago. It's hoppin' compared to what it was a few years ago.
Not true. You are the scum of the Earth, but I am the scum of the scum of the scum of the scum of the scum.... Bump
I looked at the numbers last night, I was actually surprised to see what they were a year ago to today. You're right, the game is nearly 2 years old and nothing new to hype up right now. The fact that people are still here and still generating conversations means the site is not 'dead'. People are still playing the game, not the numbers that they were when it first came out or year after. It's really started slowing down the past 4 months, but I think that's because people are genuinely trying other games right now and H5 has served it's purpose for them. @Xandrith here's a question I really would like to know, what would you do to fix the site? If it's being ran so poorly that you felt the site is dead, then I really would like to know so that I could help fix that. Sure, I can't make a new Halo game, but what I can do is try to fill in the gaps until there is a new one that will spark everyone's interest.
@Nitro My saying "forgehub is dead" has nothing to do with how the site is run, or at least that wasn't in mind when I initially said it. However, as far as moderation goes, I think you guys have it down at this point. It would be nice if you could go back in time and undo the damage that Warholic inflicted, but you can't. I can only hope that someone has learned something. In any case, the activity and population of Forgehub is directly correlated with the population of Halo, and Halo's current numbers are a joke. Even a (comparatively) badass editor like H5 forge can't carry this mess of a game, so the blame mostly lies on the people who don't deserve their jobs.
I can value that and I can appreciate that comment regarding moderation. It's a grey area and it's tough to follow. I really wanted to step away from moderation since my passion for the community sometimes clouds my judgement, but I can always be hopeful. You're right too, the site's population is in DIRECT correlation to the population to Halo. I think the numbers for Halo could be higher like those of CS:GO or some other gaming community, but 343 IMO has shifted their main focus onto the next iteration, so we as the community suffer. The little things like playlist updates, HCS events, and forge contest are things that are keeping it alive. I'll say it again for those who may have missed it. If you look back at H5's MM, ForgeHub community members did a LOT of work to make Halo 5 matchmaking come alive. Wish there was more, but still happy that they recognized the fact that people like our community are passionate level designer who want people to enjoy their creations. ForgeHub is a place to collectively discuss those sorts of things. Sometimes the passion is over zealous, but hey there's nothing wrong with that. All I am saying, having active staff members is my direct contribution to help make the Halo community better. It's not always going to be roses and sunshine sparkles, but I can always share with you guys what I believe that we can be a more united community and not so torn like other communities out there. That's pretty much my drive in all of this.
