Halo as a franchise had certain characteristics in its level design, sandbox, and movement. Halo 3 had those characteristics, only its player traits and sandbox had some oddities - none of which actually forced any of the other characteristics to be drastically changed - the player traits were the only thing that were potentially not the greatest, but were not so bad as to change the entire experience, and set of possible experiences with it. Halo 5 changed the player traits to the point where all the other characteristics had to be changed too, ergo, the game traits were changed.
As long as people are still interested in getting their maps into matchmaking (and they always will be), this is going to be a hard sell. There have been attempts to do this before (Promod and GoldPro in previous games, Old School in H5, along with plenty of 'classic' variants), with very little success. By all means, I'm in favor of it though. Imo, the best time to begin a movement like this is actually near the end of a title, where the community is smaller and potentially tighter knit. That can then be built off of when a new game comes out. Now's the time!!!! I can't really participate in developing a gametype, because I simply don't have the time to test/play, AND forge. I'm willing to work with whatever other people come up with though. I'll personally not be building anymore maps in Halo 5 with Armor Abilities in mind. I'll probably just use the Old School gametype, unless there's something else around that I don't know about, or something better is developed.
We (Or I) will try and reintroduce Old School if the new BR works well. Like a brand new post, maybe a video IDK. Slap and Kell never really had time to host lobbies or get publicity, I want to try it again because there is no way I'm playing default for another whole year.
H3 And CE I seem to recall CE matchmaking in MCC is honestly better than the entirety of Halo 5, even with its quirks
I don't think it has anything to do with getting maps in mm so much as designing maps for non standard settings blotches things. Maps don't translate between two settings. It worked in H3 because the speed change (100 to 110) was negligible on level design. The rest was a minor damage buff, respawn settings, etc. Disabling abilities turns it into an entirely different game. People just won't ever do it.
Never happened. --- Double Post Merged, Sep 18, 2017 --- Yeah so **** it, everyone come together to make good settings. No one likes standard, I'm sure if we all pushed it hard enough people would start forging for it.
It is strange that everyone bitches about the settings. We all have the ability to come together and forge under old school settings. And yet we don't lol. --- Double Post Merged, Sep 18, 2017 --- Also I know it has only been a couple weeks, but I'm still hyped about when Dunco basically said **** you to the FH establishment. That **** was so ****ing funny.
Warholic inspires me. He's living proof that all you really to be respected in the gaming world is to be born with a bunch of money you didn't earn and buy forgehub.
