Yeah i'm not supposed to give feedback to you guys so i wont point anyone out specifically but you guys need to make sure your 1v1 maps aren't dead quiet. Sound FX seem too loud when you're forging alone but they really aren't as noticeable once you're playing and they really help with the sound whoring issue. Its breaking the gameplay of certain maps that are of the better contenders so far. Otherwise I get where xandrith is coming from with the BPR. Its totally OP and in theory shouldn't be on any 1v1 map. Except after hundreds of games testing replacements and different weapon setups over the BPR and Snipe, its the only power weapon that plays and feels the best on my own 1v1 map. So i guess my own logic fails me. I'd say its the same thought in goats mind for the LR being OP on keystone. Considering this is bordering feedback towards a specific entry i wont speak my own thoughts on it. Either way don't follow duncos earlier advice. Don't do what you want and definitely debate this stuff because these concerns certainly hold water.
You mean no sounds effects is ruining your Immersion Right? Because no amount of sound effects will stop you from hearing sprinting and other spartan abilitys
Yeah i realize that and abilities are a normal cue in even a 4v4 match. Being able to hear someone simply walking across the map from yourself though? Its a better source of information than radar. Some maps also have speedboost yet its more of a disadvantage from the louder steps than its worth. (Literally i dont pick it up for this reason) Regardless the quieter your map is the worse the issue is so it makes sense to do as much as possible to alleviate it.
Maybe I play with my volume much higher than I think LOL. So maybe because of that I tend to not think the sound effects in general help against sound woring unless its a mega ton of them and there super close Then it works. But thats just obnoxiously loud and annoying. Of course I have a pretty good ear so maybe I can just hear it among all the noices. Not really sure. But I do agree. I hate quite maps, its a bit unsettling to me HAHAHAHA.... It reQs my IMMERSION. For me its about a level feeling ALIVE I Also did play a game on your map today. I will say it looks really cool, Its really hard to make original art (well original to me, I havent seen anything like it.) and I feel you did a pretty good job in that part. I feel some areas in terms of pathing still feel kinda odd but overall its fun.
The sound issue is only exacerbated by more controlled layouts. Free flowing maps with an abundance of options make it a less prevalent issue, because it's harder to lock the area/map down. An example of a style of map that will have this issue is single atrium with segmented connections around the perimeter. If you have too little options, sound makes it impossible to move along the perimeter unpredictably. If you have too many options, predictability and pace may suffer. Ace and Canadian are going for this style, so it'll be impressive if they manage to avoid these issues.
The LR isn't bad for all 1v1's just because seth **** on you with it goat, come on now. The brute plasma rifle is also fine... We are able to give the thing 1.00 energy for fcks sake. I'm not advocating slopping every weapon down on every map but if you really like a weapon and want it on your map, make it happen. Just make sure you consider it a holistic part of your map from the geometry up. Where there's a will, there's a way. This is also a competition. If your participating and think you know something others don't, then why open your mouth to "help" others out?? Any edge is an edge in my book.
For those of you that want to know exactly what's changed in the Weapon Tuning playlist (From what I've gathered so far)... The BR has recoil, random spread, and a slower fire rate similar to the Halo 3 BR. Ergo, it's Perfect Killtime is now 1.4 instead of 1.28, and arguably could be called a Hitscan version of the H3 BR. The Gunfighter now has the same draw and reload speed as the Default Magnum, along with random upward recoil. It's useless unless you've crept up on someone. The DMR's aim assist is much lower at CQC, and is easier at long range. The Carbine's aim assist is much lower at long range, and is easier at CQC. The Assault Rifle has massive bloom if you hold down the trigger, but is pinpoint accurate if you tap-fire. It essentially has become a more skillful automatic. The SMG has a larger bloom spread when firing, and a rumor is going around that it no longer has Head shot Bonus. Camo is nuts. Much harder to see, and doesn't make you visible when using base movement. The Railgun now has a longer charge time. Grenade Launcher has a slower and bouncier projectile, but is still piss-easy. Energy Sword has no speed buff. I have yet to check out the Fuel Rod or the Beam Rifle, but I'll assume they've made the Fuel Rod's rate of fire slower and the Beam's hipfire have less aim assist.
When I tested the BR last night against a wall I didn't get a random spread patterns. Didn't have a lot of time to test it though. You sure it has random spread?
Here's an idea on how to balance the BPR: increase the health ttk (15 shots instead of 8 for example), reduce it's magnetism/projectile hitbox, and decrease it's projectile speed by about 20%. Thoughts?
That's kinda a poor mentality to have. It's a competition but you should still help another out to make your maps the best they can be. Besides multi and I have agreed that we won't write maps off for poor weapon sets, we'd just delete them before throwing the whole map under a bus.
In honor of Halo, I've begun 'Liking' posts at random, without any rhyme or reason. If I 'like' your post, it doesn't mean I agree with you. If I don't 'like' your post it doesn't mean I disagree with you. I'm just trying give everyone an equal chance to enjoy my likes. Even bad posters should be able to have fun on the forums. If you don't like it, you should probably just find a different forum.
