The big weapon tuning playlist is out, and we all know how we feel about the way things are in the sandbox currently. This thread is to discuss the potential effects on forging (map design, weapon set, sightlines, range, etc.) that the new balancing might have, as well as to discuss the real effects once the update has been made permanent. Some topics: - which weapon that is not being tested needs the biggest update? - which weapon will receive the most increased usage in weapon sets overall? - discuss the choice of weapons for different gametypes/playercounts Go!
My thoughts: - The active camo buff is worrisome. It already is pretty strong and is arguably the strongest it's been in a Halo game. - The nerfs to a lot of the loadout weapons weapons might prove to be more balancing and make more definite roles for each weapon but I don't think BR starts can work in Halo 5 unless the nerf is pretty significant. - I'm not sure if this has been changed, but I've always felt that the spartan laser was less imposing in Halo 5 than the previous games.
-yeah same re. active camo... who the hell says it isn't valuable or useful, like I can't see anyone when they pick it up, its almost too useful -If they're nerfing both long and short range, then the BR should be better balanced, but anything short of removing hitscan and bullet magnetism will probably not address the most important problems -agreed, it's a bit wimpy and not as fluid an experience as it was in H3 for sure
this is not going into effect for customs until after they are sure they want to make the changes permanent, correct?
Yeah kinda sucks that we can't test it out on the maps, but I guess it makes sense in the grand scheme of things
Side note (as of the day of this thread) these effects aren't going to be implemented until they gather their "apples to apples" data or whatever, so nothing (in matchmaking) is in effect for around a week
PERSONALLY i'm not sure why they aren't addressing the magnetism of all the covenant weapons, and are instead focusing only on the UNSC stuff - beam rifle is meh, but it's so uncommon in MM that they'd be much better off looking at the storm rifles and the brute plasma, needler, plasma caster, etc.
